    • Hello Everyone, on my last post, I said that my mother's visa was denied and she was given a 221(g) letter for the deniel. Embassy asked us to submit I-864 and I-864a and some other supporting documents because I submitted I-864ez originally. The documents reached the embassy yesterday (9/21/2022). This morning(9/22/2022), the status shows Issued. Finally after sailing through rough water, we reached the shore. I wanted to say thank you to everyone here and a very special thanks to Sir. AlienKanpur and Sir. GeoMac for answering my questions. I will post other details about the interview shortly.

Heartiest Congratulations abhishekhawat. By God’s Grace, the passport will be with your mom, possibly within the week or at most early next week.
Now you can plan for her departure from India. Happy reunion. God bless you all.

          • My parents will be arriving in US (Seattle) next month by themselves. I have a couple of questions concerning the POE experience:

            1) What sort of questions could they expect at POE?
            2) My dad speaks limited English, but struggles to understand American accent. My mom does not speak English. Could this cause a problem at the Port of Entry?

I am wondering if I should fly to India to accompany them and help with the POE process. Please advise.

              Dear Dream2021,
Good to hear that your parents will be arriving in October.
              1. I am sure they would have gone past the US Border control several times and through different POE, in the past few years. This experience will hardly be any different. Even if this is the first time, there is no need to worry. Generally very simple routine questions may be asked, which will be no different from the questions which may have been asked during the interview at Mumbai. See the post number 2713 by maneeshsah.
              2. Your Dad can request for an interpreter.
Not being able to converse in English will not be of any concern at the POE. My personal feeling is that there is no need for you to rush to India for this purpose. Goes without saying that for your parents, your presence will relieve them of a lot of anxiety. So as a matter of emotional support they will certainly welcome if you accompany them to USA.
best wishes. Do keep the forum updated.

I wonder why did you pay by cheque. I paid for the fee while in India, through my credit card. I am not aware of any similar case that has been posted in the forum. However to my understanding, this should not pose any problems. Your parents may be questioned about this. As a precaution please send copies of the cheques that you have sent to the USCIS, to your parents. Or if possible, withdraw the cheques and pay online using your credit card. Best wishes.
Hello AlienKanpur, actually I paid online one month ago, but that got rejected, I was not aware of this since when I paid I got payment successful message in few minutes along with their A number.
couple of weeks back I tried to pay online again but it said you have already paid Immigration fees. That was conflicting with the message in their online USCIS account. In online account it said your payment was rejected. So I got confused and send two checks via post.

update: my parents just arrived Yesterday :-) this journey started in December 2018. Finally it happened! Thanks to this forum for everything.
At the POE they did not ask much other than where you will be staying.
In the mean time I was able to call USCIS regarding the immigration fees. They said they have some technical issues going on with their online portal, they are well aware of it and trying to resolve it.

                        Dear abhishekhawat,
That is very true. Your mom must enter USA before the expiry of the medical. As a matter of fact the VISA that will be issued will be valid only upto that date. Even otherwise, keep in mind that the medical is valid only for six months.
                        Best wishes
