Is Mumbai consulate scheduling interviews for IR5 (Parent of a U.S. citizen)

The nearest (walking distance) hotels are Trident and Sofitel. They also give free rides to the Consulate. Another budget hotel is Indiestays. Rest all nearby hotels are not good. Hotel Ibis at the Mumbai airport is good and they also provide rides to the Consulate. Best of luck for your respected mother's interview.

Many people have already suggested the hotel. Trident is undoubtedly a very good hotel, with great service. Free pick and drop at the consulate, which is just in the backside of the hotel. One can actually walk up to the consulate. There is no point in going prior to 6.45 am. Ask your mom not to carry any electronics item except one mobile phone. Even smart watches are not allowed inside. The mobile will have to be left outside at a deposit facility. Rs. 50 per item is charged for the same. Most of the details are already posted in this forum several times. Please feel to post your queries if you are unable to find something. Best wishes for the interview on Jan. 25. Hi abbypatel99, I would not worry in such a case where the Sputum test is required. Just go through the process and wait until the test is cleared. The Clinic or Hospital will call you or you can call them around 9 to 10 weeks to find out what the results are. If cleared, they will send the paper work directly to the embassy. At this point, you can schedule the interview on the FederalCGI website under Class B Medical Option. Note - you will have to do biometrics again as well. Therefore, you will need to get appointment for biometrics and interview appointment (granted if there are appointments available). Overall, just follow the procedure and all will be fine, dont worry. Hope this helps!

Thank you for your response apshah05. How would I schedule an interview under Class B medical option, the only option I see when I log into CGI website is to schedule VAC appointment only.

While waiting for the sputum test results, I am trying to proactively schedule an appointment using instructions provided by other users. However, there are no dates available 3 months out. I tried to call the customer service and use them to book an appointment. But they said they cannot do that until I receive an email to schedule an appointment.
Has anyone had any luck booking an appointment after sputum results?

I had provided my W2 and 1040 for years 2018, 2019 and 2020 at the time of submitting I-130. Now that my parents interview is scheduled this month, I have additionally provided copy of my W2 and 1040 for the year 2021. Do I have to give Employment verification to my parents to carry for the interview?

New to this forum but found it very helpful. If I could get some help please or any guidance will be much appreciated. My mom's consular interview was February 1st so we had the medical done last week since I have read other forums that they are requiring sputum test if irregularities are found in Xrays. Unfortunately, my mom had to go through sputum test as well due to the irregularities and Apollo Hospital Gandhinagar said it will take about 56 days for the results to come through.

I checked the visa tracker page for the status of the file and today it said "refused" along with " A U.S. consular officer has adjudicated and refused your visa application. Please follow any instructions provided by the consular officer. If you were informed by the consular officer that your case was refused for administrative processing, your case will remain refused while undergoing such processing. You will receive another adjudication once such processing is complete. Please be advised that the processing time varies and that you will be contacted if additional information is needed. Does this mean her interview is cancelled? I went to the US travel docs website to book VAC appointment, it let me do that but how do I see my consular interview date in there or will it let her reschedule consular interview? Will consulate call us or email with the new appointment?

this is standard message till they go through the final interview (after sputum test is cleared). The status will continue to say Refused.

At interview, in most cases these papers are not demanded. But it is safer to carry the latest W2 and 1040. Also advisable to keep your employment letter and latest two pay stubs to establish continuity of your job. Best wishes.

Can you please confirm if address of the Mumbai Consulate where you attended interview is "C49, G Block, Bandra Kurla Complex, Bandra (E), Mumbai"?

My parents interview is scheduled on January 11th, 2023. I read in the forums that I need original copy of I-864 (Affidavit Of Support). From my history of submission of documents this is an electronic document which was uploaded to CEAC portal at start of NVC application. Which means I will have a printed copy of I-864. In that case what does an original implies ?

Dear Community,

My parents interview is scheduled for January 11th (Mumbai). Both applicants future address in USA and petioner (my address in USA) is changed. I notified NVC via AskNVC and got the response that they have cleared the file and now it is up to embassy/consulate to change the address.

When parents went for biometrics they informed them but they said to inform the Mumbai consulate. What are our options, its crucial that our GC does not get lost when posted.

Any one in similar situation who was successfully able to change the address?

I am exact similar situation as you, my parents interview is scheduled for Feb 2nd (Mumbai) and I will need to update the both applicants future address in USA ( as my US address changed).

Have you able to figure out the the process to update USA address in form DS 260 ?

While talking with US Docs hotline, they mentioned I should send an email to [email protected] asking about the same , through which they will temporarily open the DS 260 form for us so we can make an update. so it gets updated before the interview at Mumbai consulate. I am bit hesitant to go that route, as by updating DS 260 will hopefully not impact consular appointment date.
