    • Shanaya. This is just amazing. I mean truly amazing list. I had 2 basic questions.

      1. How long before can I schedule the medical exam? Can I do it 1 month in advance?
      2. How many appointments do I need to book in the website ustraveldocs.com? I know I need to book slots/ appointments for biometrics (I want to do this on the previous day of the interview). Do I need to book a slot/appointment for the actual interview also? I am asking this considering the interview letter has a date and time specified.

      • Hello,

Anyone with experience in rescheduling the interview at Mumbai Consulate?

My father received the IL on Jan. 23 (DQ Jul. 15 '22) but my mother did not. Turns out NVC had all the documents but did not DQ her until Jan. 26.

But I want to avoid a long separation between their interviews so that they can travel together.

        Any guidance is appreciated.

        Thanks!

          A-Number
          • Your A-Number is the letter “A” followed by 7, 8 or 9 numbers (such as A012345678). On a visa stamp, your A-Number is identified as a Registration Number and it does not have written “A” on the IR5 Visa, it just says Registration Number.
          • If your A-Number is fewer than 9 digits, the system will automatically add zero(s) after the “A” and before the first digit so there is a total of 9 digits, for example: A-001234567.
          • Enter “A” Number (Example: A-123456789, A-012345678, or A-001234567)
          DOS Case ID
          • Your DOS Case ID is 3 letters followed by 9 or 10 numbers (for example, BMB0123456789).
          • On your visa stamp, your DOS Case ID is identified as the IV Case Number. The IV Case Number has two numbers at the end, such as 01 or 02.
          • When entering the IV Case Number as the DOS Case ID, do not include the last two numbers. For example, if your IV Case Number is “BMB1234567801,” you would enter your DOS Case ID as “BMB12345678” (do not include the “01”).
          • If you want to pay together for both parents then there is an option, click “Add Another Entry” and enter second person’s information.
          • Enter email address and mailing address for payer.
          • Click next for payment of USD 220. (For both $440)
          • If paid in advance in India before leaving for US, process starts as soon as beneficiary is in US.

I hope above details will help someone in this forum who is going through similar process or planning to do same for their family members.
WISH YOU ALL THE BEST IN COMPLETING SIMILAR JOURNEY FOR YOUR LOVED ONES.
          Regards,
          Shanaya Patel

Dear Shanaya - first of all, HUGE Thank you for your guidance to this forum - so incredibly helpful and we appreciate your time, and people like

My mother finally received the letter and I am going to setup the Medical appt. However, I'm not sure how to register for the VAC appt. The instructions say to go to: www.ustraveldocs.com to register but when i get to the site I'm so lost (for e.g. after I select india, it asks me to apply for a non-immigrant or immigrant visa and then takes me to KVisa. A bit lost. Any tips on how to get this appt? Much appreciated. Thanks again.

Even I am having the same issue. In I think we are supposed to select an immigrant visa and select the type, and we are expected to take an appointment only for the biometrics.

                Dear Shanaya,

If you are fine with it, could you please share some info related to your parent's experience with PCC, such as

                (i) How long it took after the date of appointment at regional PSK ? Does the PCC come by postal mail only or can you also download it online when it is ready?
(ii) Have your parents visited the local police station themselves for verification, or did the Officers visit your parent's residence?
(iii) For verification by local Police officers, what documents will be needed other than passport/aadhar/voter id/pan card ? Do we need to submit any photo(s) ?

My mother will do her PCC appointment art regional PSK next month, so worried about the steps after that.

                Thanks.

I was able to figure out and get an appointment for IR5 visa applicant. However, there was no option to select biometrics only. Hoping this works.

"You have scheduled an appointment for an immigrant visa to the U.S. Most applicants will have an appointment at the Visa Application Center (VAC), followed by an appointment at the Embassy or Consulate. Please review the below important information carefully. By coming prepared, we will be able to provide you with the best service possible."

                  • Hi Shanaya, First of all I just want to thankyou for the kind of support you have shown. I appreciate your willing to help people lost in ambiguity and confusion. I have a question on Sputum test since my aged father is a likely candidate for failing the test. If he fails the sputum test , will he have to undergo some treatment and come back to the test centre after 2 months and test again ? Since his interview will have to be rescheduled can my mom also reschedule her interview (even if she passes the sputum test )

How can I make sure both mom and dad have interview together incase one fails the sputum test ?

                    • My PCC may not be current (more than 12 months old) on my IR5 interview date. Should I obtain a new PCC now?

                      • Hello fam,

My mother's IR5 was approved last year, and I am now helping with my father's application. My father had to go with DNA testing and received a letter from NVC for interview on April 13th. A strange occurrence that has been happening is when I go to the cgi website to schedule a biometric appointment for him, it takes me straight to consular appointment and never shows an option for biometric (VAC) appointment. As such, I am unable to book a biometric appointment for him. Has anyone faced a similar issue? How did you solve it? I have reached out to ustraveldocs but haven't received a response yet.

                        Many thanks in advance

I'm having the exact same problem. I'm going to call their call center tomorrow to see if that helps. But if anyone else has figured out how to fix this, please let us know.

                          Thanks!

                            Hi deftones,

One question based on your post. Does DNA testing (if necessary) happen at the I-130 approval process? Or, can it also happen at the NVC submission process after I-130 approval? If so, can it be done in India ? My mother is at I-130 approval process for several months, so just want to be aware of future possibilities. Thanks.

For my dad, the DNA testing happened at the I-130 approval phase. Not sure if USCIS can ask for paternity test post the I-130 approval. My knowledge is scant in this matter
