Thank you so much AlienKanpur. I just have a quick inquiry. According to the NVC, the current status of her case is "YOUR CASE IS CURRENTLY AT: NVC." Does this indicate that the application is still pending to be transferred to the Mumbai US Consulate?

For my application, I got following two queries thru NVC:
    1. Please submit proof of joint Sponsor's Evidence of Income.
    2. This case does not meet the minimum income requirement to sponsor the intending immigrants. To avoid delays, an additional Affidavit of Support Form I-864 from a joint sponsor may be submitted. For more information visit https://nvc.state.gov/aos. The consular officer will make a decision regarding this requirement at the time of the interview.

I submitted additional supporting documents of the Joint-sponsor. How long it takes to review the newly uploaded documents?

      Dear kjr,
You have said that your case was already DQ. This means that the NVC has reviewed your documents and have accepted them. The file will remain at NVC almost till the time interview slots become available at Mumbai. Best wishes. Relax. There is nothing you can do now. Wait for the IL.

      • My in laws have arrived New Jersey in March this year and currently they are planning to take knowledge test for driving.

Does anyone have sample questions which are similar to what they ask in the knowledge test for NJ?

Since, their India driving License were accepted so they do not have to take road test. Also, NJ is offering this knowledge test with option in Hindi so they will be able to take that in Hindi language.

        Please share your thoughts.

        Thanks,

        Shanaya

                • Dear Members,

I am sponsoring my mother for IR5 solely based on my income. I have one question about I-864 form.

In Part 6 of the form, one question asks for "current individual annual income". I am confused whether to write (a) the amount mentioned in my employment confirmation letter or (b) the amount mentioned in Box 2 of my W-2 form. (a) and (b) are different because (b) does not include pre-tax deductions (for things like employee retirement contribution, payment of insurance premiums) that are subtracted out of every paycheck I receive whereas (a) includes all of that.

I guess, roughly speaking, (a) is gross wages and (b) is taxable part of gross wages, although that may not be fully correct description.

I am fine with mentioning either one of these two. Any guidance from users who are successfully DQ'ed will be of great help.

                  Thanks.

                      Dear AutisticManChild,
Nothing to worry, this happens quite frequently. You need to wait upto 15 business days. Roughly speaking three weeks after arrival in USA. Similar thing can happen with the Green card also. I got in 38 days and my wife in 68 days. One needs to wait for 90 days for the Green card. best wishes. Keep the forum informed.

                      • My mothers interview was on July 7th, medical was 13th June Xray was not ok sent for sputum sample. Waiting on results, then on June 30th case updated on CEAC saying refusal.
What does refusal mean? She hasn't even gone for the interview yet.

                        • I have just received the IL and trying to figure how to schedule bio-metrics. There is no clear link. My mom is 84 and i ran into a page on UASTravelDocs where it states that bio-metrics may be waived for applicants that are over 80. Is that the case? Or where shall i book the bio-metric? thank you

                              Hi Kalpanai2017,

Let me share my inputs but you may have to cross check these.

Ours is also same scenario but little different. - We stayed in US for 10 years, my son born in US so citizen by birth. We returned to India in 2007. Son went back to US for undergrad (at 18 yrs age).

Once he turned 21 we applied for IR5 - my son as petitioner/primary sponsor. As son not having income that time my cousin stepped ahead as joint sponsor. Joint sponsor need in 2nd stage (i864/DS260) of application process. For 1st stage i130 filing you don't need joint sponsor details.

My understanding is petitioner, joint sponsor should be living in US but please check on this. I might be wrong.

What Are the Requirements for the IR-5 visa?

To be able to be qualified for the IR-5 visa, there are conditions that both the U.S. citizen and the parent of the U.S. citizen must comply with. These conditions are as follows:
                              • The U.S citizen must be at least 21 years old
                              • The U.S. citizen must be financially sound to be able to sustain his/her parent up until the parents started working
                              • The U.S. citizen must be residing in the U.S. and has a valid U.S. address
                              • Parent/s must be from a foreign country
                              • The U.S. citizen and their parent must show a valid birth certificate to prove their relationship
                              -------------------
