Thank you. Appreciate the response. Just a general question - So, if it is not in India, do they get a new copy from India or do we mail it. Not sure how everyone does.

Yes your mom can travel to USA but she needs to take some safe guards. Many people from this forum have travelled to US and have come back, I and my wife are among them. A few are still in the US. Me and my wife reached USA on May 2, 2021 and returned in the end of October. We had consulted our lawyer and we were advised to avoid some bigger airports like JFK, EWR, ORD and perhaps LA. So we had decided to land at Dulles in Washington. We had a hassle free movement through immigration. Our lawyer had advised us not to volunteer any information about the pending petition. But if asked, not to hide anything. We were advised to carry the documents about I-130 as well as the DQ letter. Also carry a return ticket and proof of ownership of residence in India. If questioned then one should be ready to convince the officer that she will return to India in less than six months. In the worst case scenario, the entry to US can be denied. To this forums knowledge this has not happened. Best wishes.

                  Hi AlienKanpur,

Thanks a lot for reply. This greatly helps. Btw, my mom is currently in Canada visiting my sister and we were planning for a few weeks trip to the US this summer and then return back to Canada and to India from there. Hence wanted to check. Her port of entry will be IAH so not sure if immigration at IAH would cause any issues, hopefully not. If she visits, I'll ensure she carries the relevant documents regarding her I-130, DQ letter and plan accordingly at immigration. Thanks again for the input.

My wife and I are parents of US citizen with DQ in August 2021. We had travelled to USA in Oct 21(after staying for 15 days in Dubai) with B1B2 visa to San Francisco. We were asked if we intend to request for extension to which we said no. The officer did not mention about our green card application not we said anything else. Currently we are in USA and will return to India in April. We expect our interview letter in Aug 22 or thereafter. The entry at SFO was almost as smooth as our earlier visits. Hope this helps.

                    Hi Ashok Shah,

Thanks for the reply and the inputs. This helps a lot as well. Much appreciated.

                    Thanks.

Hi 2021IR5, Birth and death registration office of the city where birth was registered, will issue birth certificate (maximum 3 copies). But the date of issue of the certificate will differ. It would be better if the original is carried along at the interview.

Since you are flying from Canada, why don't you plan to land at IAD. We landed at Dulles, Washington and we had a smooth sailing through the border control. Generally there are no issues. Be ready with a plan if the issue of a pending petition springs up.
                          Best wishes

                          • Hi All,
I am not clear about "Priority Date" - is it the DQ date or priority date mentioned in the approval letter.
In my case, DQ is Jan 2022 but priority date is April 2021.
                            Thanks

                              Dear Krishan8
Priority date is important for allotment of Visa Number in case of immigrant visa cases other than Immidiate Relatives. Immidiate Relatives (IR1, CR1, IR2, CR2, IR3, IR4, IR5) get visa number instantly upon approval of Petition. After that the IR people fill up the DS260 form and upload supporting evidence documents. When this action is completed and the form and all documents are found okay by the NVC, they call it "DOCUMENTARILY QUALIFIED" (DQ). The date of DQ is then taken in to consideration for determining interview date.
Hope this clears the confusion in your mind
