  • Hi All,

I got confirmation from NVC that my parent's IR5 visa application is Documentarily Qualified(is this what DQ stands for?) and that the next step would be for the Mumbai consulate to schedule an interview on 29-DEC-2020 11:05:56 EST.

Has anybody around this date received an email inviting them to schedule a Visa interview? We are very anxious and I am hoping to hear from others who have had success, so kindly share any details you may be able to, so we can start planning things. Thank you in advance for your time and help. Thanks!

Dear Yoka jee, Please share your experience during your visit in Feb. Thanks!
I am a parent whose DQ in Aug 2021 approved consular processing application is pending. I came to USA on B1B2 in Oct 2021. I was asked apart from routine questions whether I intend to request an extension. I said no. I was allowed to enter. Right now I am in USA and plan to return in April 2022. Hope this helps.

        July 2021 :- IR1 :- 168.---------- IR5 :- 426
        August 2021. :- IR1 :- 107.-----------IR5 :- 377
        September 2021 :-IR1 :- 81.----------- IR5 :- 345
        October 2021 :-IR1 :- 111.---------- IR5 :- 342
        November 2021. :- IR1:- 114.----------IR5 :- 264
        December 2021. :- IR1 :- 133.-----------IR5 :-622.

Sir, as you will notice from the statistics above I don't feel that IR5 are being ignored.
But, your point is correct. Not one member getting an interview letter, the past 10 days is indeed alarming.
One of our members had pointed out a week ago that August list should start coming out from last Monday or Tuesday.
Unfortunately such a thing has not happened so far. However, February has started today. Maybe the beginning of the new calendar month may
bring in some good news and new Interview letters.

No harm in staying positive and optimistic.
        With regards to All.

Does anyone know if these IR-5 stats are for interviews held in all the countries put together or only for Mumbai India?

Our DQ is May 4th 2021. Let’s keep in touch with interview letter updates. Hope you have a good time with your family in the US.

            -----------------------------

The above comparison has been made for a limited period of 6 months only . If you compare for a period of over 2 years , then you will know as to how much IR-5s have been put to disadvantageous position. The reasons could be political /policy/priority or anything. The fact remains that IR-5 and IR-1 must have the same priority order and therefore their DQ dates must match for consideration of Interviews . IR-1s of DQ date in Feb.2021 are getting ILs. Whereas IR-5s are at July.2020 for interviews. Last year for 1-2 months they gave priority to IR-5s to catch up the DQ dates with IR-1. But now they have reversed the trend. Therefore IR-5 backlog will further increase and really disturbing .

To, PBGranola :- Sir, the statistics that I have collected for over two years plus, clearly indicate that 90% to 95% of the IR5 in India are issued from the Mumbai Consulate only. As a matter of fact, it is more or less a rule that ONLY the Mumbai Consulate conducts the IR5 interview.
The few other's must be related to some other people who may fall under some other criteria, which we as common citizens are not aware of. For example, out of the 622 IR5 visas issued in India in December 2021, 585 were issued in Mumbai. So, 37 were issued elsewhere which we are not aware of.
I have checked on the official website which shows 02 IR5 visas were issued in Delhi in
December 2021. For the other Consulates in India namely :- Hyderabad, Chennai, Kolkata and Bengaluru, there is no mention whatsoever.
              So, out of 622 issued , we can account for 585 + 02 = 587.

622 - 587 = 35 IR5 visas ,we have no way of knowing where they were issued from. Could be Government related, Diplomat related or some other .
              With regards.

                • Dear Forum members, just curious to know whether anyone has entered the US with the immigrant visa approved recently. What happens at the port of entry ? Does one go to through the regular immigration process or one is taken aside for further enquiries? Can anyone elaborate?

                    1. is it possible she can travel this summer on her tourist visa (valid till 2029) and stay for 4-5 months with us and return to India. If yes, what is the process or any documentation needed.
                    2. Will there be any challenge at the port of entry since her GC is in process.
Anyone has gone through this process any feedback suggestions are most welcome.
                    Thanks in anticipation.
Your B1/B2 visa and immigration are separate processes. As long as you have valid visa, you shouldn't have any problem travelling to US. I don't think any challenges at the port as Border Security checks validity of your visa and genuineness of your visa.
