  • Hello, Members please post something. It is quite natural that those who got their or their parent’s interview letters are now on their toes running around for Medical and Biometrics and gathering documents, however please find some time to update the info. so that the people in waiting can also be prepared when their turn comes.

Hello GeoMac, Generally , The NVC used to update their website every Monday evening. With that in mind it is likely that the letters should be arriving anytime now. Just out of curiosity, are you the petitioner or the beneficiary and what is the DQ date. Me and wife have DQ date in March 2021.

        • I just found this forum and I must say this has been very informative. Thanks to all the members for that. My parents applications were DQ'd in May 2021. Since then nothing has happened. I have raised inquiry with NVC and got a standard reply. I called Mumbai consulate and they said application is still with NVC. When I call NVC I experience a long wait and could not talk to them. PCC has expired and my parents are in process of acquiring a new one as many of you suggested. Do I need to do anything from my side as the next step other than waiting for NVC to transfer the case to Mumbai and schedule an interview?

Reading this forum I see that applications DQ'ed in Aug 2020 are still waiting for interview letter/dates. I have no clue how long this will take from here. Any replies/suggestions will be highly appreciated.

I want to ask everyone here is anyone has same experience, My parents' green card file is waiting at the Mumbai embassy for visa interview (DQ+ March 2021)
They have visitors visa and they are planning to travel to USA on visitors visa on 16th Feb 2022. I am wondering if we still receive the interview notice to our home address in india?

any feedback or suggestion are appreciated.

Dear JohnLocke, There is no point in contacting either the Consulate at Mumbai or the NVC. No body can give you an update. All the DQ files continue to lie with NVC. When the consulate advises about slots available, the NVC will transfer files. The interview letter will be sent by the NVC. Looking at the efficacy at which the Mumbai consulate handled interview in January, one could expect that they would have their interviews sometime in June-July. But looking at the way things have moved this month nothing can be predicted. I have my DQ date in late March 2021. I am expecting to hear from NVC sometime in May-June (optimistic). I plan to go for my fresh PCC in late March this year. Your parents can delay the new PCC until April end. People like us will keep updating in this Forum. Best wishes

Dear Tush.kathiriya, me and my wife are DQ in late March 2021. We are hoping to hear from the NVC sometime in May-June, may be July. Your parents file will continue to be with the NVC, till there are interview slots available at Mumbai. Once slots will become available then the NVC will send an e-mail to the petitioner, the beneficiary and the lawyer (if any) with an interview date. No physical letters are sent.
Me and my wife went to USA for almost six months during May to October 2021. Your parents can travel to USA but they must be ready for a strict scrutiny. They should carry with them a return ticket and some evidence of holding property in India or evidence which can ascertain that they will return to India. They need not volunteer to tell the officer that they have filed for the GC. Generally the immigration officer at the port of entry will ask the usual questions. We had no issues when we went. Your parents can safely stay for three months may be four. Best wishes. Do keep us informed.

Dear all and JohnLocke in particular, AlienKanpur always gives good information as I have seen so far, however I differ a little on the issue of PCC. In this particular time, when IR5 files are unusually delayed on a big scale, every beneficiary’s PCC gets expired by the time the interview call comes. But now when we can see that the call will be in an estimated time of June July or August, why not to apply for PCC now and be assured. PCC is valid for one year. So if you get your PCC in March, you won’t have to worry till next March. By that time the interview call will come. And by chance something unusual happens like lockdown etc. and we don’t get visa call, then consider it as our fate. In any case, it costs 500 bucks ?
Secondly, if anyone has stayed in other country for more than 12 months at a stretch, a Police certificate has to be obtained from the authorities in that country. Normally “NO TRACE” certificate is given by that country if one has not committed any crime there. For those who have stayed in USA, no need of PCC from USA. In my case I visited USA twice and every time stayed there for full 6 months but no worry. Similarly, I go to UK every one and half year and stay there 6 months but PCC is not required from uk either.

Good info GeoMac. No harm in getting the PCC now. I shall myself get it towards the end of March this year. You said it rightly, it is a matter of Rs. 500 only (per person). Any info on Canadian PCC. I have lived in Canada for straight 16 months during 1986-87. Subsequently I visited Canada every year for almost 3 moths during summers. We have been DQ without the Canadian PCC. Can there be an issue?

                          • Want to stay optimistic but by the way nvc has scheduled interviews this month, we didn't even get all of Aug 2020 covered. Really very disappointing not sure if there is any ******** or some place where we can raise our concerns.

Dear L2022, There is hardly anything that we can do. May be there are many cases, but not on the forum. The only way NVC listens is through litigation. I understand that lots of litigations, in this connection. are pending in the US courts and continue to pile up. Let us hope and pray that things will move faster in the coming month. Best wishes to one and all.
