Wondering if renewal is the same process as before and by when we should apply for PCC renewal since my parents are traveling and not at their home address. Thanks in advance.
Dear Ivisagc, there is no such thing as a renewal of the PCC. You have to go through the passport portal all over again, fill the forms, pay the fee, go for the interview and then the new PCC will be sent within 21 days. Since your DQ date is in December 2020, you can expect to receive the letter from NVC within the next three to four months, hopefully earlier. Your parents will have to go to the Passport office and also be available when the police personnel will come for verification to the address given in the passport, Keep posting, specially when you receive the NVC letter. Best wishes.

Why burden yourself with more, when not needed.
So, relax and read the US Consulate , Mumbai list calmly and carefully.
      All the best.
      With regards.
And SG2020, the slot below the window glass is not big enough to let your photo album cross through. So carry photos loose in an envelope. Dear please carry a small bottle of water or fruit juice along in your bag to replenish your energy and mood.
By the way a personal querry if you do not mind, are you in line of IR5 or IR1 / CR1 ?

          Thanks for elaborate description .
I want to know your observation on the following point -

When we stand up before the counter / window for interview by American Officer , is there any table or board or any other facility where we can lay down our bulky files/papers to sort out or we have to hold all files in our hands and then pick any paper to produce before the Officer .
Secondly , what is the size of opening through which we can push photo album or any bunch of papers inside ?
          Thanks

To, SG2020 :- I am not aware of the size of the table top at the Counter, but I can assure you it is not a very big space. You can keep your folders, side by side.
From what I have heard the window too is quite small, enough to pass by a A4 size paper file across from our side to the Officer's side.
Due to the pandemic the old fashioned way of a spacious place and counters is long gone Sir.
You will have to do some intelligent arrangements for your paperwork.
Suggest you buy a flexible transparent folder. It's easily available in a very good quality stationery shop. Also, it helps you in identifying your documents very easily.
You don't have to dive inside your opaque folder to struggle for a particular document..
Just be innovative the way you want. It's important that you don't fumble for the document the Officer is asking you for.
So, know your paperwork well and it's logical order of asking, which is so clearly mentioned on the US Consulate, Mumbai website under the heading :-" Preparation of your interview".
            All the best. With regards.

              Yes, I am also
waiting for IR-5 Interview letter .
The window has a counter big enough to comfortably place your papers. Enough space to put your A4 size plastic pouch and the papers in it side by side on the counter.

The person checking/ verifying your papers is patient and will give you time to hand over the papers.

The opening through which you pass your papers is wide enough for a slim Album to pass through. What I saw people doing though was passing just the photos through the opening. So even if you carry an album you will have remove the photos from the album and hand it over.

              Have the originals together
              The copies together
              The common documents together
              Photos
              Each in a separate folder.
              Label and name each folder
Folder is a plastic transparent pouch
You are asked to take out the papers and submit.

              Hope this helps.
Was anyone in IR-5 category asked for photos.?
