Is Mumbai consulate scheduling interviews for IR5 (Parent of a U.S. citizen)

New to this forum.. i have applied GC for mom through counsular processing .. i see you are all referring to DQ date .. is it the date where the site says ALL REQUIRED DOCUMENTS are received and approved ?.. we have that date as 19th DEC 2020.. any ideas when we can expect interview letter.

yankee25, your mom’s case will open soon.Presently the DQD 25 Nov 2020 has been called for interview. In a few days your mom will get Interview Letter (IL) Keep all documents ready. Check PCC for its validity. It should be issued by Passport office and should not be older than one year.
1.If PCC ‘s validity is over then better apply now for new PCC in PSK/RPO.
2.Petitioner’s birth certificate Original
The above documents are required in first hand. And Originals of all those docs you have uploaded.

Thanks for all the tips. This forum is great! I am able to set up biometrics and medical appointments for my parents. PCC interview is done, now hoping to get the new PCC before they leave for Interview(5th April).
does anyone know if after receiving green card, they need to stay in US for atleast 6 months? Is it 6 months in a calendar year(Jan-December) or is it rolling year, (example,April to April)

Over 6 months from the date of entry. People say that the ticket one way is better.

The Category of CR1/IR1 are the topmost priority. I think this category is about six months ahead of the IR5 category. NVC is sending out letters for IR5 with DQ date in November 2020. For IR1 it could probably be March/April 21. So the December DQD people should expect to hear in 3 to 4 months. Best wishes.

Dear Rsidhu, GeoMac has already responded to a part of your query. Approval of green card means that you intend to stay in the US permanently. However to maintain your status, you need to stay for a minimum of six months in a CALENDAR (Jan-Dec) year. If necessary you can split these 6 months into one or more visit. But at no given time one should be out of the US for more than five months at a stretch. Once your parents get the VISA and enter USA, their passports will be stamped ADMITTED IR5. They need to stay in USA for a minimum of six months from this date. Best wishes to you and your parents. Please keep the forum updated.

Do we take 3 appointments - 1) Medical, 2) Biometric/fingerprint and 3)Mumbai consulate?
For #2 and #3, is the same website to pick day and time?
For #1- Do they take appointments by phone or by website only?

Yes that is the website for booking appointment for biometrics.
For Medicals it depends which clinic you choose.
Check their website for information on how to book an appointment. You can also call them and make an appointment. You would still have to fill some forms online.
For Consular Interview the interview will schedule the date and time of the interview.

Hello everyone , my mom got visa yesterday. They asked general questions. Who is calling you and who are in his family? They asked for death certificate of my dad instead of marriage certificate. My mom overstayed in USA before . They asked for old passport and her visa extension approval letter.I was allowed to go in with her bec she is 83 and needs assistance. Many people asked for wheelchair but they judge who really needs it. We stayed at Sofitel. Embassy is opposite Jio world center and 5 minutes from hotel. We ate at airport in afternoon when we reached Mumbai. We had pranthas with us for dinner . Breakfast was included in Sofitel. Big thanks to forum members as they were very helpful!
