    • I wanted to find out how do I print a copy of the confirmation page of DS-260 for the interview? I am preparing all the docs for my mother's interview. Please share instructions.

They asked for old passport and her visa extension approval letter.I was allowed to go in with her bec she is 83 and needs assistance. Many people asked for wheelchair but they judge who really needs it. We stayed at Sofitel. Embassy is opposite Jio world center and 5 minutes from hotel. We ate at airport in afternoon when we reached Mumbai. We had pranthas with us for dinner . Breakfast was included in Sofitel. Big thanks to forum members as they were very helpful!
Congratulations, Did you do biometrics appointment ta Mumbai?

Dear gkd, Whenever somebody gets IL or Visa approval, everybody feels happy and besides, everybody wants to know what was DQD? Hope you won’t mind my curiosity.

              • Hello Everyone,

I have been following this forum for sometime now but my first post here. I had applied for my mom's IR-5 visa and the DQ date is Jan 14, 2022. Based on the info in this forum, I am assuming it will take a minimum of 1 yr (if not more) to get a consular interview letter from NVC for this date for Mumbai consulate.

In the meanwhile, can my mom visit the USA on a valid B2 visitor visa for a short trip? Would that affect the IR-5 GC consular interview process in any way? If members can provide any info/insights regarding this that is much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hi h1bguy80. : If you scroll through the conversations on these pages, you will find many beneficiaries who have travelled to USA while their IL is awaited. In fact I was planing to fly in first week this month, but postponed as the momentum of IR5 cases was picking up so I foresaw an early visa call but now things have come up to 30th Nov. and gone in to hibernation again. In case of your mom, there is plenty of time before visa call, so she can travel.

                      • Question - During the interview, do the applicant need to take Petitioner's orginal birth certificate? The Petitioner's birth certificate is a proof showing the relationship between the petitioner and applicant (my mom). However, my birth certificate is not in India with the Applicant (my mom). Do I (Petitioner) mail it to the applicant (In India)? or submitting a photocopy of Petitioner's birth certificate is okay during the actual interview? Please provide your answers as I think I am missing something here. Thank you in advance!

Dear h1bguy80, You are correct in assuming that your mom's interview may take upto one year. Even if things get expedited, then also you clearly have atleast six months. Yes your mom can travel to USA but she needs to take some safe guards. Many people from this forum have travelled to US and have come back, I and my wife are among them. A few are still in the US. Me and my wife reached USA on May 2, 2021 and returned in the end of October. We had consulted our lawyer and we were advised to avoid some bigger airports like JFK, EWR, ORD and perhaps LA. So we had decided to land at Dulles in Washington. We had a hassle free movement through immigration. Our lawyer had advised us not to volunteer any information about the pending petition. But if asked, not to hide anything. We were advised to carry the documents about I-130 as well as the DQ letter. Also carry a return ticket and proof of ownership of residence in India. If questioned then one should be ready to convince the officer that she will return to India in less than six months. In the worst case scenario, the entry to US can be denied. To this forums knowledge this has not happened. Best wishes.

                            Hi
My wife and I are parents of US citizen with DQ in August 2021. We had travelled to USA in Oct 21(after staying for 15 days in Dubai) with B1B2 visa to San Francisco. We were asked if we intend to request for extension to which we said no. The officer did not mention about our green card application not we said anything else. Currently we are in USA and will return to India in April. We expect our interview letter in Aug 22 or thereafter. The entry at SFO was almost as smooth as our earlier visits. Hope this helps.

Good to hear that Dear Ashok Shah. In general when the Border control person at the Immigration desk swipes our passport, he does not access the USICS data base. So he would not know if you have a pending petition. But if he gets suspicious then he can find out and that is why it is advised not to give any wrong information. Secondly there is no need to voluntarily offer extra information. As I said, to this forums knowledge no one has been denied entry so far. So our h1bguy80 can plan accordingly. Best wishes to all.

Petitioner’s birth and marriage certificates are uploaded by beneficiaries.During interview they want to see the originals.
