  • About Is Mumbai consulate scheduling interviews for IR5 (Parent of U.S.citizen)
Hi VMP, thanks for the update. i have few question,
    1) did you take Biometric and Medical appointment after getting the Visa interview date?
    2) do you need to take Biometric and Medical at the same city (in our case Mumbai) ?
    3) If someone lives in another city how should they prepare for scheduling these appointment? i guess what i am trying to figure it out is will i get Biometric i medical appointment same time period when visa interview is scheduled?

      Hi AlienKanpur,

Thanks for the reply. Yes that is an option. Also for certain countries including Canada, pre-clearance for US customs and immigration is usually done at the origin so in my mom's case I believe it will be done during departure in Canada. But in any case it is better to be ready with a plan to address any questions regarding the pending petition. Thanks again.

Answers:1-Only after receipt of interview letter one can take these two appointments.
2-Biometric and Medical can be taken in different cities and in any sequence. We took Biometric on 22nd and Medical on 23rd to ensure we don’t have any reactions when we go for biometrics.
3-You should leave a gap between medical and interview (minimum 3 days) for above reasons.
        All the best

Dear VMP, I understand that there should be a mandatory six day gap between the medical and Interview. Biometric should be at least two days prior to the interview. Please correct me if I am misinformed.
Surprisingly, we have seen no movement in the forum in the current week. I hope and pray that the next week will see some spurt in activities. Best wishes to all in the forum.

Dear friends VMP, AlienKanpur and Forparents96,
I, being a Para-Medic, feel that the Medical formalities should be done at the earliest upon receiving IL. Why? Because by chance if any abnormalies are detected, then there should be time for further testing and confirming Normalcy. Apart from that reactions if any, due to the vaccines, will need time to subside. Medical reports are valid for 6 months, if I am not wrong.

Dear GeoMac and others, I have just rechecked the travel.state.gov website , see the link pasted below:

It is clearly mentioned I quote " Please make your examination arrangements with any panel physician site on the list at least seven days before your immigrant visa appointment"

This is for information to all members of the forum.

Well. Isn’t that another reason why one should go for medicals at the earliest, as I wrote? ( off course after receiving Interview Letter.)

For Biometrics, I did not see anywhere that it should be done atleast 2 days prior to the interview date, unless it is written in the interview letter which I still did not receive. In this forum lot of people use the term - 'Interview letter' or 'Welcome letter'. Is it same or different? Thanks!

                      • Do you need to redo police certification for the interview?

                            2-No Notarised copies required.
3- One year .If you do not get new one by the Interview time,go with existing one to complete the appointment. They will ask you to submit when you receive it later.

                            • Hello, I am new on this forum. Can anyone share entry experience to US. My parents are ready to come on IR5 visa. Is one way ticket must. Do they again medical check at port of entry, because as per USCIS medical instructions u must carry your xray report with you. Please guide with your experience. Thanks.
