    Dear tooolong
The IL comes from NVC as an email. If the mail has not come to either petitioner or the benficiary then write an email to NVC. Also login to your ceac account and check your contact information for spellings of your email address. Also check the messages in there.

    • Hello GeoMac,

Thanks for your reply, I have already checked the ceac account and no updates or messages in there. Last one being the case is documentary qualified. Also, both my mom and I have been getting emails from NVC since I filed and till the case became DQ. I opened an inquiry case with NVC yesterday but their website states they are still replying for inquiry opened in Feb/March. Just getting anxious.

We got it in 3-4 days. Interview on Thursday, passport received via courier on Monday.

My Sister and her husband entered the US on February 23 and I quoting their experience. When your parents will report to the Border control at the port of entry, they will be taken to another room. They will be asked to submit the paper that they would receive along with the passport. The officer will take the passport and that paper and your parents will be made to wait for a while. There could be several people waiting in that room. After a while, may be half an hour, the duly stamped passport saying admitted will be handed back. To my knowledge no questions are asked and no further tests are administered. You are expected to carry the sealed CD /X-ray, with you but they may not even ask for it. Best wishes. Do update their actual experience for the benefit of all of us after your parents have arrived.
Now a days they are not giving sealed package/CD/X-Ray if there is nothing to report. We did not get anything other than stamped passport.

Dear ms20xx, sealed packets seem to have been discontinued for a while. Also, I understand from this forum, that the CD containing the x-ray is also not been given by all medical examination centres. Delhi is still giving the CD. However, this is hardly of any consequence, because the entire information is uploaded to the consulate. When every thing is clear you get the visa. This info is available to the Border Control at the port of entry. You need not carry anything

                Dear tooolong,
Please do write to NVC. Can also do Phone talk. If they do not receive any response for one year, they will cancel the case.
Please check your spam folder too.

                  Hello GeoMac,

Yes, I am on hold with NVC Customer Center for last 3 hours.

Just a question for anyone in the forums, could anyone let me know the email ID this Interview Schdeduling email originates from? That way I can search and keep track of the emails not lending in SPAM/Junk folder.

                  Thanks

                  • Hi All:

My question is kinda tangentially related to this forum. I could not find any other forums that were more directly related, so asking this question here. So please excuse me for this transgression.

I am based in USA and my parents are in India. I have filed for my parent's green card and their I-130s have been approved with priority dates of Jan 2020 -- 2+ years back. Their case is now with NVC, scheduled for Consular Processing at Mumbai Consulate. My parents have submitted their DS-260 application on the www.ceac.state.gov/ portal and have paid their AOS and IV fees online. However, they have not submitted any of the other documents yet (police certificate, birth certificate, etc.), nor they have taken any other steps to schedule medical exam or interview appointment with the consulate. My parents also hold a B2 tourist visa for USA which is valid till year 2028.

My parents are now planning to go ahead and submit all required documents to NVC -- so that their case becomes documentarily qualified (DQ). After this happens, we all know the wait for interview is going to be a very long one. In the meantime, can my parents visit USA on their B2 tourist visa for a short 2-3 months visit? Is it ok to do so in light of their pending Green Card application. Does anybody have any experience or pointers?

I would really appreciate your thoughts / response.

                    Thanks!

After you get the interview email, the status on the CEAC website (https://ceac.state.gov/IV/Login.aspx) will be updated to show that your case is now at Mumbai rather than NVC.
It is possible that your interview has not been scheduled yet. I have no idea what sequence they follow because not everyone who is past a given DQ date gets the interview email.

Yes, your parents can visit USA after their case is DQ on tourist visa. Many parents in this forum have travelled on B2 visa without any hitch

Thanks, after a loooong hold was able to talk to NVC and they verified that the case is still with NVC and shared the same info as you which helps with anxiety about missing the email. Although no one knows why some folks are getting appointment calls earlier than others

                            Dear cahaba
Once the petition is approved some action has to be taken by the Petitioner/Beneficiary. If no action has been taken with in one year, the approved petition gets cancelled. Similarly after submitting DS260 and fees, one has to follow up with submission of documents both by Petitioner and Beneficiary. When all necessary documents are uploaded and they are found okay by the NVC, they send message in ceac account and in email too confirming that the case is Documentarily Qualified. As far as I know, the inactivity for more than an year affects the case adversly. So dear cahaba, first find out whether your case is still alive. And if alive, submit all documents and get the case DQed. That is very important before leaving India. People have visited US on visitors visa while their IR5 visa process is on. Do not mention about IR5 Immigration process at the port of entry voluntarily BUT if the officer questions about it, give proper answers without hiding truth. Should have return booking. And they know that for IR5 interview, one has to return back to India.

seems like no other document need to be carried for immigration check, I was under impression some sealed envelope will come with it to carry for immigration check.
is it same for others who got their passport stamped and travelled to US with just passport.
Congrats on receiving visa stamped passport. So now that you have reached the goal post, we will not hear anything further from you? All the best. In life there have been many occasions when we became Rolling Stones. Met for some time and then rolled away.

tooolong My parents DQ date is 26th March 2021. Have not received an IL for both. In a same boat like you. I called NVC couple of times and they said, they sent case to US embassy for Interview schedule and they do not now how many people are ahead of them. Hence just wait.
