Is Mumbai consulate scheduling interviews for IR5 (Parent of a U.S. citizen)

my parents got their DQ in Sept 2021. I guess we have to wait little longer as in a previous post I see the interviews happening now are for people with DQ dates in April 2021. anyone with DQ date in Sept 2021 who got interview emails?
I also read that we need to keep the case active, if not after a year they cancel it. How do I keep the case active in NVC? Does logging in and checking status qualify for keeping the case active?

My Mom’s DQ date is March 25 2021 and she hasn’t received IL. So there is no real science to this madness.

Update: Parents' biometrics completed yesterday in Mumbai - quick process, done in 15 min flat. Thanks to one of the posts in this forum earlier, had asked them to carry photographs, which they took. They also took the photo the usual way after completing fingerprinting.

ReleClinic accepted the printout of the IL (earlier they had asked for a copy of the actual letter) - it took a few calls over a few days to get the medical appt scheduled (they were asking parents to call back about this only from 3pm-6pm each day) - they have given the appt date over the phone and a list of docs has been sent via SMS - no confirmation otherwise. They have their medical appt a week from today.

Thanks to all who responded to my questions - this forum has been invaluable getting those answered!

Can you please share travel and immigration check experience for IR5 person.
Do we have to pay seperate fee to get physical green card after they enter on Immmigrant Visa?

Poe was Chicago. Immigrantion and customs was smooth. It's better to declare whatever you are carrying. The immigration officer was friendly and wanted to know how long it took to process the visa.

We pay only the uscis immigration fees to receive the green card. You don't need to pay again to receive the physical card. Hoping to receive the gc within 90 days.

I think it's list of documents, which you would have received through email. List of documents is available on their website as well.

My Sister and her husband entered the US on February 23 and I quoting their experience. When your parents will report to the Border control at the port of entry, they will be taken to another room. They will be asked to submit the paper that they would receive along with the passport. The officer will take the passport and that paper and your parents will be made to wait for a while. There could be several people waiting in that room. After a while, may be half an hour, the duly stamped passport saying admitted will be handed back. To my knowledge no questions are asked and no further tests are administered. You are expected to carry the sealed CD /X-ray, with you but they may not even ask for it. Best wishes. Do update their actual experience for the benefit of all of us after your parents have arrived.

Dear sapnaanagol, several of us received the mail in the evening of May 4, that would pertain to Tuesday evening in USA. The next set of letters, most likely could start coming in by our Tuesday. What nash_d meant by "list of Docs.." is probably list of documents and not Doctors. For elderly people they just do chest xray, minimal vision testing (by a nurse) height and weight, Doctor's visit and vaccines.
Take Covid vaccine certificates, interview email printout, Passport and passport copies 2sets, passport sized photographs 2, medical appointment letter, a black pen, old vaccine and health records if any, current medicine priscription or medicine itself.

I guess that paper was immaterial. Perhaps just a covering letter from the consulate. Of late even this paper is not being sent. Just the passports. You only need the stamped passport at the POE (port of entry).

Apologies for the abbreviation/confusion. Yes, I meant list of documents, not doctors - it is available on the website, and they re-confirmed via ********. There wasn't any appointment confirmation sent via email or sms, just over the phone. They should be good to go.

Hi all, my mom will be traveling with a relative for the interview in Mumbai. Another lady that my mom met at the VAC appointment also has an interview at the same time. She wants to accompany my mom from Hyderabad to Mumbai and stay at the same hotel. I already searched previous posts and noticed that a few hotels (Trident, Sofitel, Ramakrishna, La Hotel Metro) have been mentioned. Also, there are contradictory posts about cell phone storage at the consulate.

1) Can folks recommend a few hotels that have restaurants in-house or close-by? Please do not mention the 5-star choices such as Sofitel or Trident because both the interviewees don't want to spend so much
2) Does the consulate have a place to store cell phones (for a fee of course) or not?
3) If the consulate doesn't have a locker, I assume folks simply lock up the phones in their luggage and then leave it with the front desk.

Sorry for re-posting but I am getting nervous trying to find hotels and also about whether there is a place to store cell phones at the consulate. The negative reviews for many hotels (except the 5 star ones) are sometimes scary. I am mostly going to pick Ramakrishna but please share your feedback on any other hotels that were decent. My mom will also leave her luggage behind with the hotel front desk so that needs to be taken into consideration as well. Thank you in advance.
