Is Mumbai consulate scheduling interviews for IR5 (Parent of a U.S. citizen)

Congrats for the IL for your dad.
1. It’s advisable to get the medical done ASAP because if any abnormality traced, the follow up will require time e.g. in case sputum test is advised, a time period of at least 6 weeks is needed. Anyway, otherwise the medical is simple and cheaper for IR5 people. The youngsters have to undergo VDRL and Gonorrhoea testing. Children have some other tests. That all involves blood, urine etc. testing, which means more work and money. IR5 are mostly senior citizens above 65 and so what they check is - vision, BP, Wt, height, chest X-ray, doctors visit and vaccines. If there is history of Pulmonary tuberculosis (tb) in past and in X-ray if active lesion is detected, then only they will ask for Sputum test.
2. For Biometrics, when you login, you will feel as if they are scheduling you for visa interview until you come to a certain page. Choose country, location, VAC carefully. Once you choose your desired VAC, there will be month wise boxes for dates to select from. Also there will be display of instantly available slots. Choose and that’s all. Make PDF of the appointment page and later on make 3 copies of it. If you scroll down the VAC appointment page, you will see the list of documents to carry along at VAC as well as interview.

Can you please help me with that. In fact, mistakenly i preponed consulate appointment to June 24th from July 6th 2022. Now I can't see July 6th consulate appointment. Also not sure how to schedule biometrics appointment before 24th June. Please help.

Both my parents filed for green card and my father got his IL for July 5th. Is it standard procedure to have different IL for Mom and Dad or is it usually on the same IL? My mom hasnt received any yet.

your parents must receive separate IL. Their Case numbers are different, their DS-260 confirmation number will be different. If the priority dates of your parents are same, even if the DQ dates are different, they generally will be interviewed in the same slot. Best wishes.

We did Medical exam in Gandhinagar Gujarat. Very smooth process and helpful staff. However no sealed envelope or CD is given and 3 pages were give. Is it similar at other places?

AlienKanpur GeoMac - looking for your advice as senior members here. As noted earlier my mom's IL is now July 6. But she is here with us in US. She came to help my brother's wife who is going through chemotherapy. Hence, I was wondering if we could try to move her appointment for a month or month and half like in Mid to end of August. But, it seems you guys advise against it? What is the downside? What kind of potential problem and delays could we face? If not major, what is the process to reschedule?

it is not me who is discouraging the rescheduling, it is the advise of the NVC. You can shoot a letter to them for rescheduling and see what they have to say in this matter. There is no downside, except that getting a slot in the near future may be difficult. Only that can happen is a delay. I have read somewhere that rescheduling can be done after the scheduled date has gone by.
For rescheduling, you will have to go through the links given in the IL. Register and then keep going somewhere you will find a link to biometrics and also to rescheduling. I am not sure though.

Thanks for your insight. I reached out to traveldocs and they said they cannot do advise anything about rescheduling till the physical file reaches Mumbai and the status becomes ready. Anyone has any idea how much time does it take (typically) for the case files to be transferred to Mumbai from NVC?

Hello, you said you were able to reschedule your appointment although in error, how did you do it? When did you receive your interview confirmation email?

They upload directly in the system, no paperwork needed. Page given to you is proof that medical is done.

yes, on cgifedral it shows consulate appointment to 24th June 2022. While scheduling new appointment in cgifedral and selecting location, visa type, personal details with case no. and confirmation, at the end it shows option to schedule consulate appointment and there is no biometrics or fingerprinting option.

This is very strange for me. I only see option to schedule Biometrics. I was told by the ustraveldocs folks that they can only talk about rescheduling once my mom's file is received by Mumbai from NVC.
