Embassy / UStraveldocs contact?
I was wondering what might be the best way to get in touch with the consulate - my parents' Immigrant Visa was approved on June 3. Very straightforward interview, they were done in about 1.5 hours. Were only asked questions about ,me (sponsor), how long I've been here, if I'm married, and about one of their stays which was a bit longer than usual (5.5 months).
For their documents, birth affidavit was checked, and old PCC from Nov 2020 worked (we had applied for a new one as soon as we got the IV appt date, but it still hasn't reached them).
I had opted for premium document delivery for both passports, but I'm seeing something quite confusing on their cgifederal portal (where we scheduled biometrics and opted for either pick up or document delivery). For my mom, it says passport is ready for pickup, and she got an email saying it's ready for pickup at the consulate address. For my dad, the status says - "Passport has been received from the consular section, and is currently being processed for delivery" - which I believe would mean it is being shipped for home delivery. I was hoping to talk to someone at the embassy to check what exactly is going on - whether it is being delivered, or should they stop by. My brother and I tried calling the numbers listed here: https://www.ustraveldocs.com/in/en/contact-us but all we get is the IVR recording for visa info or passport status check, and the passport status check option doesn't give any info after I enter the UID they request. Has anyone been able to talk to someone at Mumbai at any of these numbers? We also tried the Embassy at 022-26724000, but no luck.

Another person who also had an interview at the same time as my mom got their passport at home on Friday. Given that your parents' interview was on the 3rd (two days after my mom's), I recommend waiting until tomorrow or the day after before attempting to reach anyone. I know we are all eager to wrap up this process. However, since we have waited for a long time, another day or two should be fine!

Until yesterday the status said "Passport has been received from the consular section, and is currently being processed for delivery" and this morning CST (night in India) it changed to "Your passport is ready for pickup". My mom hasn't received an updated email or text message yet. Hopefully by tomorrow she will.

Sorry, I do not have any knowledge about expedited cases. I expect that they too will receive an email but I could be 100% wrong!
Why don't you reach out to both NVC and the Mumbai Consulate?
I reached out to the Mumbai consulate but was asked for the "UID" from my parent's profile to look at their status. I haven't created a profile for my parents yet on the cgifederal or ustraveldocs portals. I was/am under the impression that I will receive an IL after which I'll proceed to create a profile, then biometrics etc. Is my understanding incorrect?

Do not worry. Just take the prescription. And if that is noy available, just carry the medicines which they are taking regularly. Doctor will just ask - any illnesses? any major operations? and current medicines. They do not want to dig out any hidden illnesses or any info you have not provided.
Offcourse they have to carry with them Covid certificate, IL copies (2), Passport, passport copies (2) PP photos (2) and sufficient money. All types of payment methods are viable. No need of fasting in Ahm Apollo for IR5 people.
For registration one has to do online. If they can do it its okay otherwise some good samaritan will come to their help. I am talking about procedure at Ahm Apollo. It may be different at other institutes.

Once the IR5 visa is stamped; within how many days you have to enter the country?
My father issue date is 13 may and expiry date is 6th nov.
my father was supposed to travel but he came back as covid +ve. So now I need to rebook his flight.
I remember reading somewhere that the medical is only valid for few months. But was’nt clear if medical would still be applicable once the visa is stamped.
thank you

To my knowledge, the validity of the medical examination is exactly six months. So if the medical was done on, May 7(i am assuming) then your father must enter USA no later than Nov. 6. In case, one goes beyond the six months, then a re medical examination will have to be done. Best wishes.

What we observed from Feb onwards is that, that the IR5 cases are getting IL almost every third week, probably on Tuesdays or Wednesdays. Last time it was Monday, the 23rd May. If the trend continues then next IL release is likely on 13th or 14th or 15th June. All the best for all those who are waiting.

Good to know that your medical is in Apollo Ahmedabad. Thats a good place and the staff is very polite and helpful. About 3 hours it takes. Once the examination is over, one of those small sweet daughters will politely tell you to come at 4:30 pm to collect the information sheet and other relevant papers. There is an excellent canteen where you can eat and wait till 4 pm.
