Is Mumbai consulate scheduling interviews for IR5 (Parent of a U.S. citizen)

Can you please let us know how did your parents Interviewed in their language? Did they mentioned that before or during the interview? I am also looking if my parents can speck in their language ( bengali) during the consulate interview. Any insight will be helpful!

They have translators available and they ask which language you want your interview in although we did mention in fingerprint appointment. You can check if Bengali is available when booking for fingerprint appointment.

Most probably they will recieve in the first week of July.Their interview may be in the month of August,3rd week.Its just a guess based on my calculations.

nakubo - thanks for sharing, this is helpful! Agreed - want to be done with the process asap, but my parents have travel plans (they were previously scheduled to fly out internationally June 11, so getting passports back in time is critical). Which is why, wondering if there's a direct line I can call (that others have had success with) - v/s emailing them and waiting for 1-2 days for a reply. I re-checked their DS-260 appointment confirmations (the emails we get after scheduling biometrics) and both of them indeed show up as having been set for premium home delivery, so not sure what the email regarding pickup at Mumbai consulate is supposed to mean.

Update - both passports received / picked up successfully. Dad's was mailed to home, but for some reason, mom's had been changed to pickup at consulate (not sure how/why, as the biometrics confirmation was for premium home delivery for both). Mom went to the consulate with my brother to pick it up yesterday. Glad to be done! This forum has been invaluable in terms of getting questions answered - I wish everyone the best in their upcoming interviews!

In case it helps someone, I was also able to get to a live agent to provide clarification on whether the passport was ready for pickup or not. I was asked to call 022-4844644, which I had already tried before. However, the agent at the embassy asked me to not use the passport tracking option, but to use the one for immigrant visa information. I selected that, then selected the option for preparing for the interview, and at the end of the recording, there was an option to speak to an agent. Was able to get to speak to one after a 25 min hold. The alternative is to email them for a reply in 1-2 days.

Dear All, A quick question. My wife applied GC for her mother on 26 Feb 2021. In march 2022, NVC asked for more documents such as tax returns and W2 for the year 2021 which we had uploaded already in March month. Since then we have not heard anything. On the status dashboard, it says IV fees (paid), IV application (Completed) and Civil Documents (accepted). Also it mentions that "your case is currently at NVC" How does status dashboard looks like when Documents are qualified(DQ)? Generally how much time it takes to convert to DQ status? Your response and suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

Hello Everyone, Given that my parents took some of the vaccines many years earlier and there is no proof. I have the Covid proof for sure. Curious what has everyone's experience been in the vaccines being given - 1) what proof did you take especially given some vaccines are one-time and likely given many years (may be decades) back; 2) how many and which vaccines did you take

Much as I want to clear the medicals in one day, I am concerned my parents are not given too many vaccines all together. Thank you everyone for your insights.

This thread has been really helpful. I have been going through multiple posts to understand the process from DQ to IL. My parents have below DQ dates. Can anyone logically deduce when to expect their Interviews. They have to plan a trip outside India and want to ensure we can plan around the IL dates

Father DQ - Feb 15th 2022
Mother DQ - Apr 6th 2022

I have also requested NVC if their interviews could be scheduled together, but haven't received any response yet.

Owing to lockdown and implementation of cowid norms, the process of immigration was halted for some time and later on started at a slow pace. This resulted in a big backlog. Now slowly it is picking up momentum. We waited for about 14 months to get IL after DQD.
If you check the visa statistics on NVC website you will have better idea. As of now people with DQD in May 2021 have received IL on 23rd May 22.

Hello everyone,
My father had his interview yesterday and his visa application is approved. My father is elderly and needed assistance. My husband went from USA to help him thru this interview process. They stayed in Trident Hotel. Very nice and very convenient facility. Hotel provided curtsy cab for his Biometric appointment. There was a lineup for the biometrics but took about 15 minutes to complete. US consulate is nearby walking distance. My husband took my father in side the consulate on wheel chair. Everything was done in less than one hour. I would suggest if you have uploaded any documents some time ago and now you have the new one, please take both (old and new ) documents with you. Now we are waiting for his passport to be back from US consulate. I hope it will not take too long.
Can anyone share how long it takes to get passport back in Punjab ?

How you got the appointment. How much time spent. Number of vaccination given and total amount collected from you. Thank you Sumanbehl. Yes my father's medical was done at Max Mohali. One person was allowed with him to go inside for assistance. It took total 6 hours to complete the medical. He was given four vaccines and paid about Rs 17000 total. He already had COVID vaccination. The staff was very helpful. But he was very exhausted by the time he was done. No paper was given to him other than receipt and vaccination information. US consulate did not ask for any medical papers from Max either.

Thank you Sumanbehl. Yes my father's medical was done at Max Mohali. One person was allowed with him to go inside for assistance. It took total 6 hours to complete the medical. He was given four vaccines and paid about Rs 17000 total. He already had COVID vaccination. The staff was very helpful. But he was very exhausted by the time he was done. No paper was given to him other than receipt and vaccination information. US consulate did not ask for any medical papers from Max either.

Please inform how you obtained appointment with Max Mohali? Whether it was obtained thru phone or online.
