Is Mumbai consulate scheduling interviews for IR5 (Parent of a U.S. citizen)

Can someone share the information about how many days it takes after visa printing to get a passport tracking number/ pick up/ SMS ?
Mine is showing from last two days that visa is printed and is getting prepared for shipping.

Hello everyone,

Would appreciate any help here.

1) My parents DQ dates are 9th April 2021 and 13th May 2021 respectively. Have not received any IL email yet. (According to the tracker and this forum, it looks like these folks with DQ dates around this time frame are receiving ILs). My mother's case was expedited and the last message in the NVC portal shows "Case Expedited to Post". Does this mean any more action required from my side or continue to wait for the IL email ?

2) When I called up the Mumbai embassy, they wanted the "UID" which was not the case number or the Invoice ID. So what am I missing in this process here? Just concerned that the progress is stuck due to some missing action from my side.

I am also waiting for the SMS or mail. My interview was on the 10th. As per the CEAC website the visa was printed on the same date. Since it was. Friday it left the embassy on Monday some time. You can send a mail to [email protected] with passport number in the subject line. You will get a message almost immediately. I continue to get that it is in transit. The officer said three to five working days. For me today is the third working day. You should get it this week. Best wishes to all of us in waiting.

Dear Varaprasad,
heartiest Congratulations for the successful completion of the process. At the end when the officer tells you that your visa is approved, a printed page is give, which has the heading VISA IS APPROVED. The process of paying up the fee is given on this paper. Somebody in this Forum had posted the copy of that page. You will find if you scroll back a few pages. It is the same paper that is handed to the beneficiary on visa approval.

Thats absolutely right advise to sapnaanagol, not to reschedule husbands interview. In her case, rechedulling has become a requirement based on health testing. In other words, there is an authentic reason for rescedulling. Her husband has no reason to reschedule the interview.

I am now again asking you both,what should he carry for birth certificate? We had not submitted as we do not have & the documents were qualified.What have others in this Forum done?(Those born before 1960)

Attended our interview today and we got the approval. The interview was at 7.30 am and was over by 8.30 am. The questions were;
a. Who is sponsoring you?
b. Where does your son live?
c. Where does he work?
d. Have you been to US earlier?
e. When did you visit US the last?
No documents nor any other questions were asked. The guy verifying the documents before the consular officer interview said marriage certificate is must and not having in your case could be an issue which the officer will explain. Turned out to be false since no question about documents.
This forum has been very helpful and informative and thank you for the same.
By the way, they did not give me any details on payment of USD 220 except the guy verifying the documents mentioned it orally. If any one who paid the fee is still continuing to be active on this forum may please provide more info on the payment.

GeoMac has already responded to your query a little while ago. I have in the past already mentioned about the documents required. Once again I am stating :
1. A certificate of non-availability of birth certificate from the office of birth and deaths
2. Two notorized affidavits about the birth of your husband from people who are elder to your husband by ten years.
The documents which GeoMac mentioned are only secondary.
I suggest that your husband should go with all documents that GeoMac has mentioned. If the officer is satisfied then it is very good otherwise your husband will be given a form 221(g) requesting for the documents that are required.

It normally takes 3-5 working days to reach the pick-up address you have given at the time of VAC Biometrics. Best wishes.

Hello all.
Just got the information that my father got his passport with visa stamp. His status still showing the same "getting prepared for delivery" on line.He did not receive any message( but he is elderly and might have missed his message).My husband and my father visited Blue dart location and passport was already there. Thank God.
Summary of his case is Priority date Jan 2020
DQ date March 20, 2021
Interview letter received on May 04, 2022
Interview date June 09, 2022
Passport received June 15, 2022.

For my mom, we only submitted two affidavits from relatives and that's all was showed at the interview as well (when requested by the officer). The relatives were 8 and 10 years older than my mom. Depending on your parents' ages, it's not always possible to find relatives who are more than 10 years older. However, the older the better!

The following email was sent a few days before the passport was ready for pickup. The address in this email is that of the Hyderabad VAC.
"Dear XYZ,
Your document(s) have been collected from the US Embassy/Consulate
The passport number being returned is ABC
You have chosen to have your documents delivered to the following location:
Hyderabad, 1-8-384/385 Ground Floor, Gowra Grand, S.P.Road,, Hyderabad, 500003
If you have any issues or concerns, please contact us at www.ustraveldocs.com/in."

After the passport was ready for pickup, the online status on USTravelDocs got updated. However, no email or SMS was sent. Therefore, one can review the status online and decide to go to the VAC for pickup the next day.

Many people with DQ date in May June 2021 got ILs today. I have not luck yet for my parents DQ date in March 2021. So frustrating. I sent inquiry to NVC and i got the standard response that i am in a queue. I dont know what should I do now?

Depending on your parents' ages, it's not always possible to find relatives who are more than 10 years older. However, the older the better!
