Is Mumbai consulate scheduling interviews for IR5 (Parent of a U.S. citizen)

Heartiest Congratulations to all those who got the Interview Letters. It is a great relief, this time the new ILs came after a gap of 40 days. A great relief for PayalRoshanPatel, Shrutipshah, Sumanbehl, AS45, IR5user, erikjakel, etc. Heartiest Congratulations and wishing you all a successful adjudication. Some of you have asked for a detailed procedure to be followed now. As a matter of fact, every single detail is available in this forum. One does not have to scan the entire 150 pages of posts, just go back to the posts commencing in Early May. However for the benefit of the members I will try to recall the steps and post very soon. Update: I had VAC for parents on 25th and thinking they have already done it so don't have to go again. They cancelled consular interview as well for them so don't schedule VAC before consular if you have already done it thinking you don't have to go again.

Can you tell us what are the vaccines administered to senior citizen male & female? Is it possible to take these vaccines on our own before medicals to avoid many vaccines to be received in one go as consular interview is lined up few days later.

My parents did not keep their vaccine records. So, they got Pneumonia, Influenza (basically flu), and Tdap. Not sure if they could take it before. But when we were making appointment for the Medical examination the doctor's office did as us to get the vaccine records. Hope this helps.

You should take all 4 & complete it at a single time.They inject on both upper arms,deltoid region,2 on one upper arm.No major side effects,bit of pain in the injection site,bit of malaise for 1 to 2 days

Vaccines tend to creat side effects but they are minimal like mild fever, pain at the site of injection, slight itching etc., however, it can not be said that not all the persons will have side effects. It varies from person to person. Some people can have severe reaction too.

Could you fix it again? Please get the new appointment at the earliest. The visa medical reports are valid for 180 days only from the date of medical exam. Before that one has to enter the USA.

Dear V1V2S,
I am a central Government employee. I am due to travel to USA in mid August. I will have to submit my Life certificate in November this year, but I will be in USA. There is a provision for doing an online submission. For that you need a finger print reader and a retina reader. Getting it through the Indian Embassy may not be easy because the embassy may be located only in a few cities. State Bank of India is also authorised to do this. I will make enquiries from the authorities here and then post further information. Anyways my plan is to be in India during November every year from 2023.

rmalik - in other words, are you saying that if you have VAC appointment first and then consular interview - then you MUST go to VAC appointment.

If we don't go to VAC appointment, then they automatically cancel consular interview? Just want to clarify, because this is very important information.

I got my mothers IL yesterday (25th July); DQ was Sept 3 2021. Thank you everyone for this great forum and information sharing.

I wanted to check a few things:
- The site says that plan for 7 days in advance of your interview appointment to get medical test done. Since we are not from one of the cities where they do the medical tests, do people just stay in Mumbai for 7 days to do all 3 - medicals, biometrics and visa appointment?
- Has anyone successfully expedited their interview date? Mine is on Sept 27 which is 2 months away. I wanted to see if it can be done sooner than that.

I live in Baroda and got my medicals done in Apollo Ahmedabad 7 weeks(sorry 5 weeks) before the interview. Medical reports are valid for six months. For biometrics you can take an appointment in Mumbai 1 or 2 days prior to Interview.

wow! Congratulations Dear sapnaanagol. Now in few days your report will come. Is it feasible that you re-schedule your interview sometimes in the end of August by which time your medical clearance will come and thus you will save days.

Please do share your experience with us in detail, on all the steps taken after you received the negative test results - if you waited for the email from Consulate and steps taken to book VAC/Consular appointment on the website. Such useful information since this is all grey area.

Since I have to take her to a different city to get the medical tests done, I wanted to check how many days I should plan for? The nearest for me is Delhi.
