Is Mumbai consulate scheduling interviews for IR5 (Parent of a U.S. citizen)

Hi friends,some good news after a long time!My sputum test is negative.I have booked my interview slot for 1st September.I have also booked VAC( I have already completed) but without VAC,we do not get interview slot.I will go for VAC again that day,so that,my interview slot does not get cancelled.Fortunately,I have conference on 26,27 & 28th August.I am missing one of my talks & going for VAC.Feeling very good as I could get the slot in one go!!!

For IR-5 Mother, should the non-availability of birth certificate mention her current surname or maiden surname (that she had at the time of birth) ? We are not yet at the NVC step, but starting to get her documents ready in correct format. Any guidance will be helpful.

Let us assume that the maiden name was ABC XYZ and the current name is ABC IJK. The non availability will roughly state that a search was made in the records for ABC IJK whose maiden name was ABC XYZ daughter of (mothers name) and (fathers name) etc. The precise language can be found on USCIS website or you can do a Google search.

I have question regarding how to re-schedule appointment As Dr ask for SPUTUM test to be completed. Does Dr office send request to Mumbai consulate for reschedule ? Or we have to do it.

Is there any specific number to call consulate ?

I am writing a new post answering all the lovely posts I have got. First of all Thank you very much AlienKanpur, GeoMac & apshah05

I did not wait for mail from Consulate as:
1.Already it was late for me
2.I had read on our Forum that email is not received.

The following steps are to be followed for getting interview slot after Sputum results are negative:

1. Visit the website: https://ustraveldocs.com/in/en
2. Choose Visa category as Immigrant Visa and login ( for first time user, signup)
3. After login, on left side there is option for Schedule appointment
4. After filling all your personal details, you have to take the VAC appointment.
5. Select Visa Class & visa category options according to your visa type, for me
Visa Class : IR5
Visa category :Class B medical applicants ( for suptum test Please ensure you select "CLASS B MEDICAL" option under visa category list.)
6. After selecting category CLASS B MEDICAL"-answer "YES" for question - Have you received instructions from US consulate? and
“Yes” for the Question - One of U.S. Consulate General Mumbai’s approved panel physician sites (Apollo Chennai, Apollo Surat, Apollo Gandhinagar, Center for Migration Medicine – Hyderabad, Max Mohali, Max New Delhi or Rele Clinic - Mumbai) required you to undergo additional medical testing as part of your examination?
This will give VAC appointment option, even if you have already done with biometrics you have to take it again and then proceed.
7. After VAC appointment is confirmed, next step will be scheduling date for interview
8. You can then select the interview date whichever available and confirm.

If you did not receive email from consulate, may I ask what kind of confirmation you had received when you re-scheduled the appointment? This, so I may follow the same procedure. Our projected timeline on when we should receive is by end of August, so still waiting, as our last Sputum test result was done on July 6th. One question - What means of method did they contact you to let you know that your results were negative?

We had done ours in Lilavati in Mumbai for Sputum test, but they noted that Rele Clinic will reach out - but not sure on what we should expect.

Please share your VAC and Interview experience once you go through it all...it will give us insight as to the process and how it all goes for both (if any different from the regular process).

Hi, Thank you.I received sms from the hospital,it was a digital report
Yo may get your result by 9th or 10th of September.It takes exactly 8 weeks.

Dear IR5user,
this is a standard response from the Max centre. Do not worry, they will hand over a document within an hour or maximum two hours after completion of all formalities. This paper is some kind of information sheet which looks kind of incomplete. But again do not worry, this is just a proof that your medical test was completed. They will also give you a CD containing the x-ray. The actual details of the medical examination are uploaded on the consulate website. Best wishes.

There are two ways in which the cases are being processed. If the case is "online", you don't need to collect any report and they will hand over you a printed paper after your tests etc. are done along with CD of the x-ray. However, if your case is "offline", you need to collect the report in person from MAX after 3 working days which starts to get counted from the day after your tests are done. Ask the receptionist at MAX to connect you with their backend team who can look up your case using NVC case# on whether your case is online or not. That's what I did for my mother's test which we got done at MAX delhi on August 8th.

My mother's interview is on September 27th in Mumbai at 9 AM. I wanted to check if reaching Mumbai on 26th and taking the 5 PM flight on 27th will work or am I cutting things too close especially on the way back? I have gotten both the medical tests and VAC appointment completed already.
