Your application has been refused under Section 221(g) of the Immigration and Nationality Act because it is incomplete. Further consideration will be given to your application upon submission of the materials below!
We require additional proof of relationship between you and the petitioner. Please provide the following:
    For Family-based petition
Copy of your family's ration card.
    Copy of Aadhar Card Photo
copy of son's School Leaving Certificate and other school records
You may submit the above documents WITHOUT an appointment at any one of the 11 document drop-off locations.

My son doesn't have Aadhar card. Not sure if are they want my son's Aadhar.

Respected Members and Senior Members, appreciate your suggestion. Also if anyone know good lawyer would be helpful.
Our cases were handled by ****** ****** law firm in California. Do a Google search. Address cannot be given here. It will be blanked.
But as GeoMac mentioned that there is no need to panic. Get two affidavits of proof of birth from your relatives. The format for which can be found on the USCIS website. Plus submit other documents as suggested by the senior member GeoMac.
    Best wishes

GeoMac what is the update on your status.
Surprisingly no new ILs for one month. All extrapolations have gone haywire.
Best wishes to all in waiting.
Congratulations AlienKanpur for gradually merging with America viz. first step SSN. I got SSN card in the first week itself. It is very important doc. (The seniors here said not to share the photocopy of SSN card to avoid any misuse.)
As long as you are on visitors visa, you can drive on your Indian driving licence but once you are an LPR, you can not drive. So I took and cleared the driving test. Took an appointment and went for collection of driving permit yesterday but they asked for an evidence of my address here. I presented SS envelope but the officer said a cover with post mark on it is needed. He advised to post an envelope with address and postal stamp on it. In two days when that envelope comes as postal delivery, it will become an evidence of my address. Govt. documents are not stamped and post marked so those are no valid doc as proof of address.
I had a sore hip so I went to a govt. clinic here. The registration lady was so courteous, she directed me to another office for insurance, however before that she arranged a consultation with ortho. nurse. Nurse checked me and advised some stretches and therapy. Also advised an over the counter medicine. She fixed my appointment with a specialist consultant. ( As experienced in UK, the consultant appointments in America are also given very far) My appointment is in first week of october by that time my hip will be restored to normalcy. However, the blessing came in disguise. My hip pain has trigered the initiation of insurance formalities which hopefully will finish soon with positive result.
I conclude with a hope to receive my driving permit and insurance card and green card by the end of this month.

Changing address is not such an easy proposition. The residential address in India is not very important to the NVC. The communication will be through e-mail only. In case you decide to change your address, then first you will need to have new passports with the current address. I would say that you do not worry about this. When they get the IL and fill up the online forms then they have to provide address for getting the stamped passports and the address for the delivery of the SSN and Green Card. Best wishes. That is my take. Maybe our senior friend GEOMAC can add something.
        Dear Vjrnn2022
If the address in US is to be changed, there is a form AR11 on USCIS website >home>forms.
Read the instructions carefully and do accordingly. Changing address is important for receiving SS Card and Green Card which happens only after you enter USA. And the address on these vital documents is seen and used everywhere as your legal address. What AlienKanpur has advised about Indian address, I too am of the same opinion. At the time of Biometrics at VAC, you need to declare how you want your documents back. You can decide what you want. If you decide to receive at your home by Courrier then you will need to confirm or change your Indian address.

          Hello Forparents96,

Other than the working phone number, you don't need to download anything from India. In fact, I don't even think you need to enable international roaming specifically for incoming SMS, atleast we did not (please crosscheck with your telecom provider). If your Dad is still in India, ask him to buy one of the Govt-approved biometric scanners from India. It is quicker and much cheaper there. He can carry the same in his luggage once he comes to US. Steps are given on jeevan pramaan website. I would post the link resources, but this Immihelp forum is moderated to disallow specific names and web-links

          • GeoMac and AlienKanpur , thank you both very much for all that you have contributed to this forum. I assume that you didn't fill out any additional forms for the SSN and it was instead requested as part of the DS-260 form.

May I also request you both to share information on what medical insurance you have taken to cover the time period between leaving India and purchasing an insurance plan thru the HealthCare.Gov marketplace. Thank you both very much.

Do not panic with 221g letter. What you need to do is, provide your son's school leaving certificate and any other document which shows his name with your name indicating the father son relation. You can make an affidavit with details about your son. Also his marriage certificate, wedding cards, any other document which shows father son relations. Please do not submit any unreal documents.
I am not an expert in these matters so use your descrition and act.
Thank you Sir for your suggestion.

The intimation from the biometric people gives you a list of all the documents that would be needed at the time of Interview.

                For a Consular Interview
                • DS 260 confirmation page
                • Two recent photographs 2x2 inches
                • Medical Report (No X-ray films or discs)
                • Police Clearance Certificate from the Regional Passport Office
                • Original and photocopy of Birth Certificate, Marriage Certificate, Divorce decree
                • Affidavit of Support: Forms I-864, I-864A, recent Tax returns, W2s and job letter (if not already submitted to the NVC)
As a precaution one should carry originals of all the documents that were submitted either with the I-130 petition or the DS-260 application. Most likely they may not even look at your birth certificate or the marriage certificate.
In our case on June 10, we had everything but they asked only for the documents mentioned above (for me and my wife). They did not ask for the marriage or birth certificate of the petitioner(our daughter). All documents mentioned in the last bullet were already uploaded.
The questions are very simple and the atmosphere is very cordial. They can ask : who has sponsored you. Where does the petitioner live. What do they do. How old are the grand children. When was the last time when you were in USA. Have you ever lived more than six months at a stretch in USA. Have you ever lived for more than one year in any country other than India after the age of 16.
The green card will be sent at the address given by the beneficiary in the forms that may have been filled after receiving the IL. Landing has nothing to do with the receiving of the SSN or the GC.
                best wishes
Thank you sir for helping me a lot.
I have uploaded 2021 tax returns and W-2 online but my 2020 tax file is too big to be uploaded so I am planning to send it to the interview with my parents.

                • Dear All,

My parents interview at US consulate Mumbai is coming up in September.

Here in the US, I am relocating to a new address next week.

Has anyone been in a similar situation, where petitioner changed their address ? Any help on the steps to follow would be greatly appreciated. Whom/how to convey the address change ?

Also, I am guessing the green card (and SSN card, anything else?) are going to be received at the petitioner's US address, correct ? But these will be received only after my parents actually travel to the US, correct ? So, even if they successfully complete their interview at Mumbai Consulate in September 1st week, but if they travel to US only in December, then the green card and SSN card/etc would be received at the US address only in December, after they have reached US ?

Are there any other types of documents/letters that the petitioner is going to receive at their US address in the interim (between now and the time of receiving the green card/SSN/etc.) ?

                  Thanks a lot.

                    Dear IR5user,
Best wishes for a successful adjudication for your parents interview in September.
The issues of address change has just been discussed in this forum a few days back. See my post 2461 and that of GeoMac 2465.
The SSN generally arrives within 10 days of the beneficiary entering USA at the address mentioned by the beneficiary. The Green card takes a little longer, but will reach the petitioner’s address. I think that your parents will have an opportunity to mention the address at which they want their documents to be delivered.
To the best of my knowledge all communication is being done through e-mails only. Except for the SSN and the GC there will be nothing that should be sent as hard copies through USPS or a courier.
                    Best wishes

                      Dear nakubo,
                      Thanks for your compliments.
No additional documents have to be filled for getting the SSN or the GC. However a fee of US $ 220 per beneficiary has to be paid at the link provided by the consulate, before leaving India.
My son in law, has taken a usual travel insurance policy for two months for me and my wife from united. We plan to get a new one soon. Not yet decided. Please share your experience.
                      Best wishes.

                      • AlienKanpur , I believe the $220 is unrelated to SSN and is instead for the greencard. Regardless, I am glad that you didn't have to submit any other forms.

For the benefit of myself and others, can you please share the details of the United Healthcare plan that was purchased. There are various websites for travel insurance but they are extremely confusing w.r.t. greencard holders vs visitors. In addition, most policies don't cover pre-existing conditions. The Google Doc link I included in my previous post has details about a few plans.

If you are not comfortable sharing on the group, I request you to DM me directly using the chat function. Thank you very much Sir. I forgot to say this earlier but welcome to the USA!

Once my mother arrives here and receives the SSN, I intend to buy a "proper" policy for her via the HealthCare DOT Gov website. The travel insurance is intended for the interim.

We strongly encourage you to update your address with USCIS to ensure you receive all correspondence and benefits from us in a timely manner and avoid possible delays related to your case.

Changing your address with the U.S. Postal Service will not change your address with USCIS. Please update your information with both USCIS and USPS.

If you fall into any of the categories below, please read the information in the corresponding section. However, most individuals can change their address in two ways:
                          • Through your existing USCIS online account if you filed your form online; or
                          • Filing Form AR-11, Alien’s Change of Address Card, online using the Change of Address page (as long as you didn’t file one of the forms in the sections below). Filing Form AR-11 online will update your address on all pending applications, petitions, or requests that you include on the form. You do not need to mail Form AR-11 if you use the change of address webpage.

Just to update regarding change of address,my daughter also had a change of address recently. She read details online, asked the lawyer & uploaded the changed address online in the CEAC account. Its better to read it in detailas GeoMac has very correctly mentioned & then upload the address in the documents which were submitted & qualified.

                            • Wanted to brief regarding the VAC for which I had been yesterday.
Its really sad to note that the officers at the counter are ignorant of the VAC after Sputum testing.Ultimately one senior officer came, then told this officer at counter to place a new stamp.I stronly suggest all those who get Sputum tests advised,do go for VAC again & get it stamped.
