I am the petitioner for my parents green card, and have had a recent address change in the US. I am quite confused which forms to fill and where all ? Only AR-11 on USCIS ? Anything (any form or intimation) to NVC ? Or to the US Consulate in Mumbai ?

Even on USCIS website, it seems to suggest that if I have an online account, I should change my address through that account. But when I login, I do not find any option to specify/change my address. Do I need to create new accounts for the beneficiaries (my parents), which appears to be what you have been doing, right ?

    Thanks a lot.

PS: My parents have already completed their interview at Mumbai.
I moved almost a year ago that time my parent's case was at NVC and waiting for the Interview. That time I called NVC and verbally informed them about my address change. I thought that is enough and I really did not do anything until now. Later on, i came to know about AR11. So started the process filling online. I made couple of mistakes like, logged into my USCIS account instead of theirs because I never created any online account for them,
2nd mistake was saying "yes" to the below question
Have you filed an immigration-related application or petition and have not yet received a decision notice, card, or document?
    Answer should be "No"

After all these mistakes finally what i did is created two different USCIS account for each of them (use their email ID, it has to be two different email), You need their "A" number and Case number. "A" number you received with their interview email. After you logged in, you need to verify your identity with some questioner. Once you complete all these you will see "My Account" tab on the top left corner from there you click on Profile and there you will see link for AR11, click on that and follow.

If you do not want to file online, you can directly download AR11 form and send that physical copy to the address mentioned in that form.

    • I wanted to know regarding the point of entry. Is it necessary to enter the point which is nearest or exactly at the city of our petitioner?
Or we can choose any destination & then travel to the Petitioner's home?
I have not yet got my passport.my interview was on 1st September. There may be delay due to the holidays?
I plan to call the Embassy on Monday.

        Dear rmalik,
i am sure that the wheel chair helped to the extent that we avoided the huge lines at the immigration counters. I think that the process of the yellow sealed packet is no longer there. The entire data is now uploaded. You only present the passport. But I carried all the originals of the documents that were submitted either with I-130 or DS-260. However no body asked for any document.
        Best wishes

          Dear sapnaanagol,
The answer is rather obvious. Port of entry from India to USA are limited. You can land at any port of entry and then proceed to your destination. Like we landed at Chicago and stayed in a hotel overnight before proceeding to Rochester in a car.
Best wishes for getting your passport in the coming week.

              Dear NidhiArora,

Welcome to this forum. This is your first post, obviously you are new to the forum. This forum is full of posts about the IR-5 interview. You may like to scan the posts of may be 10 to 12 days ago. The interview generally seems like a mere formality. I am sharing my own experience. First an oath will be administered and then some very basic questions are asked like:
              1. who is your petitioner
              2. What does he/she work
              3. How many grandchildren do you have
              4. Have you travelled to the US before
              5. What was the longest duration that you stayed in USA
              6. has any of your stays in the US exceeded 6 months
              7. have you lived in any other country for more than a year
May be some other members can add to this. I advise you take the interview in your mother tongue, because the American accent from behind a glass window is not easily comprehensible. when is the interview scheduled ? Best wishes.

              • Hi everyone.
I just found about the AR11 form. I moved after my case was at nvc and I spoke to them over the phone and updated my adress verbally. I asked nvc and they informed I don't need to do anything else regrading the address change. Do I still need to fill out the AR11? My mothers interview is on this coming monday. Is that enough time to have the address updated if i fill it out online? I still own the old home but I just don't live there. I also have mail forwarding so if any mails sent to my old address they get forwarded to my new address, and if not, my tenant saves them and gives them to me.

                • Hello all, question on how much medicine parents can carry when they come to USA. Can 6 to 9 months medicine be allowed to bring? They have doctor's prescription; it is from 2020. Do they need recent prescription?
is there any difference between in carrying medicine on IR5 visa and Tourist visa?

Hi abhishekhawat; NVC told me exactly same thing to me, i thought it will get updated. However, recently i came to know my Immigration payment was declined and the letter was sent to my previous address. I just found this 2 days ago when i created online USCIS account for them. I never knew that my payment ($220 ) was declined, my parents will be here soon now i am trying to pay that amount ASAP. I will be sending check on Monday by post, hopefully the fees will go through before they arrive in US.
My suggestions would be fill AR11 online or by post. Saying this from experience i am not an expert.

                      Dear Forparents96,
I along with my wife have entered USA on August 17, we carried 7 months of medicines for both of us. Even on B1/B2 visa we used to carry upto six months of medicines. We have always carried the latest prescription. Fortunately we have never been questioned about the medicines in our last 19 to 20 visits to USA. My understanding is that prescription medicine can be brought in if supported by a proper medical prescription. Best wishes.

Thanks, AlienKanpur. Carrying a recent prescription will be good idea, just in case.

Dear Forparents96, thnaks for information. I just wanted to know if you filed the AR11 after your parents interview was done or before? During the interview, did the immigration offer mention anything about address change to your parents?

I did file after the interview. Recommendation is to file as soon as you moved. During the interview nobody asked anything about it.

                              • I am worried that my parents IL is not being issued. Their DQ date is 27 Sept 2021, I see people with DQ date in Oct 2021 have received IL. I had posted requesting for any leads on what to do previously, but did not get any response. I tried calling NVC, but the call goes to an automated answering that says 'NVC has discontinued answering phone calls'. I see some posts where they say they spoke with NVC. Any phone number you can share? I would appreciate any leads/info on this topic.. Thank you!!
