Is Mumbai consulate scheduling interviews for IR5 (Parent of a U.S. citizen)

I just want to share my experience of my parent Interview , they approved at the window and told they will received passport in 10 days but not received one month status was not changed Says Ready after one month received passport with no stamp . One paper inside passport 212A no other explanation what to do I travel to US and hired lawyer to much Expensive to file waiver form. Now who know how long it will take ? Hardship form call waiver of grounds of inadmissibility .

On sept 14 status changed to Issued. Now waiting on passport.

The last IR5 interview letter was received on July 25, 2022. That was for DQ date Sept 15, 2021. Since then , 50 days have passed. There has been no movement. Any idea what is going on and what to expect ?. My DQ date is Feb 4, 2022. Am concerned about those who are in front of me in the Que, for obvious reasons !😀

IR5 IL were issued on August 30 again and some people received IL with DQ date of April 2022, so now it is very confusing that how they are processing. My parents DQ date is January 2022 and still waiting.

My mom and dad are being sponsored for their IR5 by my sister and my brother-in-law. She had applied first for my dad, and then my mother separately. At the time they had applied for my dad, they had asked for a tax filing extension for unrelated reasons, and were not able to provide their most recent tax return but they did provide for the previous 2 years, as well as W2's. When they filed for my mom they had filed tax returns and were able to provide for all past 3 years. Now we have gotten a "does not meet financial requirement, you may add a joint sponsorer. The visa officer will look at this requirement at the time of the interview" for my dad. However, we did not get this for my mom. Their combined finances easily meet and easily exceed the financial requirements of 125% of poverty line.

I am also now a citizen, and can be a joint sponsor. Their interview is on the 27th of September, and I have all the paperwork ready, but cannot find the way to be added as a joint sponsor. Can anyone else who has been through this specify? The website does not have any way to add me as a joint sponsor. The best I can think of is to send the i864 signed doc as a hard copy with all supporting documents.

Separately, I'm also unsure if it's required since my sister has updated her and her husband's financial information in the website.

Your parents have interview on 27th Sept., that means they are DQed. Now you all must feel good that despite having deficiency in financial support document your parents are called for interview. In other words a lot of time saving and energy and money too. Now what you have to do is, upload your i864 and relavant docs like w2 and IT transcript etc, proof of relations (birth certificate), your citizenship certificate, US passport etc. in additional documents in the CEAC account which is operated by the Petitioner (your sister) and the Beneficiaries (your dad mom) and send the original i864 and Birth certificate and copies of Citizenship certificate and US passport to your Dad Mom. They will carry those papers along to the interview.
Worse come worse, they will get 221(g). Even otherwise also in present senario, in abscence of required additional financial documents, they are very likely to get 221(g).You really have to act fast, not much time.
It is 4 am here in America, when I wrote this post for you dear tsar2.

Just hoping my Mom's case gets finalized soon; her interview is on 9/26. I am a bit nervous as she hasn't received any email since her Sputum test came out negative just a phone call which is not the norm (per the forum). Just hoping for the best. She is alone in India and 73 so its a lot of hassle and effort for her.

GeoMac - Thanks for your kind response. So the main problem is that when I login to CEAC it has 2 different people listed there my sister and her husband. When you try to upload it asks for the kind of document you are uploading. I think if I select 864 document, it will overwrite my sister's 864, so I think you are saying put it with my sister selected I put it as additional documents. I think we can do that. Actually in the CEAC website when you login at the HOME page it says that contact consulate/embassy if you want to add financial sponsor, but when I called them today the agent seemed clueless. He said send the docs to [email protected].

For my next steps my sister is uploading all her financial documents with her latest tax returns, as well as her husbands. I will add my documents in additional if there is a provision, I will also send them to [email protected], and send a copy to my father to carry. My mother did not get any issue in her communication since my sister had already filed her taxes by the time she applied for my mother.

I can't see any other way to approach this. Based on the message all documents should be uploaded for the consulate officer to see, also he will get a hardcopy. In all likelihood since the same finances did not have a problem for my mother and my sister's and her husbands combined finances are very good by themselves, I assume it has to only do with tax filing extension my sister had taken for that year.

Congratulations sapnaanagol. Very good news. Remember I wrote that it would happen if visa officer told you. Now you have enough time to book your tickets. Wish you all the best in rest of your activities till you enter successfully in USA and receive your green card.

Till July 25 things were going on, on some kind of a pattern and one was able to do some kind of extrapolation. But now things seem to have gone a little unpredictable. After July 25, there were some ILs sent out on August 30. This set had hardly any pattern. Again assuming that letters are now originating once in a month, one can assume that the next set of ILs will be coming towards the end of this month and would possible cover people with DQ date upto October end. Now, one cannot call this any extrapolation, but only a wild guess. Best wishes to all in waiting.
