I am pretty sure that you may not be allowed to open a bank account with the Indian passport. Some banks can be very strict. To my understanding the SSN is a must. Plus you need proof of address. If you have opened a NRO account, take a statement which must have your US address with full address with pin code etc. Passport will be accepted as an identity proof. SSN will prove your landed Immigrant status. My bank was particularly fussy and my credentials were accepted only after I got the Permanent Resident card. Maybe GeoMac may want to add something. Best wishes for smooth entry to USA.
Thank you!

Welcome to USA. START of a new chapter in life. Let God’s Grace continue to be upon you and your family. I am sure that your entry was very smooth. Do post your experience on this forum, for the benefit of other members. Also, if possible, do post a picture of your self after entering US. THIS tradition was started by GeoMac. Requesting others to do the same. Best wishes.

Phoning is absolutely a waste of time. I tried, unsuccessfully, yesterday. You are only struggling with a machine. I have sent an enquiry.
Best wishes one more time.

Surprised to hear about this waiver business for your Dad. This is absolutely new to the forum. It will be nice to hear, what necessitated this action. Best wishes for the approval of the waiver.

Me and my wife traveled by Ethihad Airlines which comes via Abu Dabhi. We had our immigration at Abu Dabhi itself. It was very smooth. At First Pre-clearence, the Immigration Officer did not ask anything except the address where the GC is to be sent. Then he took us to the Second Pre-Clearence room where I have filled a form which contains personal details name, passport number, address where we are staying in US and declaration for valuable and items carrying with us to US and gave it the Officer. After few minutes he gave us our Passports with IR5 admit stamp and asked us to proceed to boarding.
Regarding, my self I am Sathya Reddy Atmakur, retired in June 2021 as Asst. Registrar and Secretary to Vice-Chancellor, Osmania University, Hyderabad after serving the University 40 years.
Presently I am staying with my younger son at Herndon, VA. As desired, I am posting a photograph of myself and my wife.
Thank you.

Your post is rather unclear. Are you a petitioner or a beneficiary. Are you planning to file a I130 petition followed by DS 260. To my knowledge, no body has posted such a data in this forum. You will find every thing on the USCIS website. Or even a Google search will help you. Best wishes.
