I have a question. My parents interview is on 27/10 and we have opted for premium delivery of passport at our home address. Due to some unforeseen circumstances my parents will be not in home for two weeks. My question is can we change delivery of passport and collect it from VAC centre New Delhi. If yes how we should do it. I have tried cgifederal site where we booked biometric and unable to do so
    Dear Sumanbehl,

I believe you can call on the helpline numbers and request to change the delivery option. We had opted for passport pick up option. Yet, we received mail twice, before interview, from ustraveldocs.com, suggesting the ways to change to premium delivery if we want. Here is the copy of the mail.

"In light of increasing COVID cases across the country, keeping in mind the social distancing norms and the safety of our applicants, we would like to inform you of the availability of the optional Premium Delivery Service at a convenience fee of β‚Ή 650/- per passport.

If you wish to avail this service, please follow the below steps to update your delivery address.

    1. Login into the profile on - https://www.ustraveldocs.com/in/en
    2. Click on β€˜Change Document Delivery Information” on the dashboard and proceed further.
    3. Change your document delivery option and click on β€œContinue”.
    4. Logout from the profile."

You can may check this option too.
    Best wishes.

        Thanks.
Dear sir they have a reasonable setup for medical, but only problem is the crowding due to candidates from other country visas are checked at one place. They should be prepared to spend 6 hours without food and then take food before their vaccinations. They should also reach the testing centre at least 30 minutes before their scheduled appointment. All the best .

please go through the government market place of your state. I operated through the Minnesota Govt market place. Filled up a few online forms, they suggested either Blue Plus or Ucare. The premium will be set up according to the annual income in India. Things may have variations between the states. Best wishes.
Dear……….@AlienKanpur,this is interesting that premium will be setup according to the annual income in India as I was given the impression that income will be the total of your children income.Sir can you furnish more detailed information about this as we have missed the 60 days time period for applying at market place. Thanks and regards.

Heartiest congratulations on getting accepted as a US Citizen. October is already ending, so you should wait until they get their Visitor visa approval. During the interview, they are likely to be queried about their intentions to migrate, because you are now a US citizen. If your parents are applying for the renewal and they have a travel history to US, then, it should be easy. Otherwise, if the Officer at the Consulate smells of an intent to migrate, they can easily refuse the Visitors Visa. Then, your parents will be stuck in India until a successful adjudication of your Immigration Petition. Be very careful about, how to handle the Visitors VISA issue. In no way, the I-130 precede the B2 application. If I were you, I would have the parents come to USA in January and file for Adjustment of Status (I-485). Best wishes.
thank you AlienKanpur for sharing your thoughts... they don't have any B1/B2 visas. this is first attempt for visitor visa. applying I-130 after their visitor visa interview is a safer bet.

              1. For paying the fee you will need two numbers, one is the case number starting with BMB. Notice that on the VISA, extra two digits are added, perhaps 01. Ignore them when filling out the number. Also just below this number, you will find the Registration (Alien) number. This does not start from A. It is a very vital number, like our Aadhar card number. Incidentally, this number is also mentioned in the absolute last line of the interview letter.

              2. No further forms are to filled. SSN will reach the address given at the time of biometrics in less than 2 weeks and GC In less than 90 days.

              3. COVID restrictions are totally removed. You need to have a certificate of being fully vaccinated. You can travel by any route, breaking journey wherever you please. But remember to enter before the validity of the medical/ slash VISA expires ( which ever is earlier).
              .
Best wishes for the upcoming travel. Keep the forum informed about your experience at all stages.

              Dear Sir,

Thank you very much for the reply.

One follow up question for you and all: What formalities/paperwork would happen at the arrival airport within US ? To account for these, shall we try to have a longer than usual stopover (say more than 2-3 hours) before taking the connecting domestic flight in US ?

              Thanks a lot.

                Dear NihaIV,
This will be a tricky situation. Your parents could easily be questioned about the intentions to migrate. They have to be unambiguous in claiming that there is no intent to migrate. They should carry with them documents which would prove deep attachment to their native place.
As far as filing for I-130 is concerned, you can do so only after 90 days have elapsed after reaching USA. Generally people file for I-130, I-485 and the travel parole in one shot. Best wishes.

                  Dear IR5user,
The procedures at the POE seem to have got very simplified. I remember, that in February this year, my sister and brother in law had to wait an hour in a separate hold, before they were cleared. No extra questions were asked. No forms were filled. Two months ago, when we entered, it took us less than 10 minutes to be cleared. See my post number 2380 of August 18. Similar experiences have been shared by a few others. We can now hope to get the update from sapnaanagol who may have entered two days ago. Normal stopover suggested for transferring from International to domestic is about three hours. No extra provision may be needed, under normal circumstances. Best wishes.

                  • Hi All Forum members of IR5
After I disembarked at the Houston airport, I had to join the long queue for immigration formalities. The queue for visitor & green card visa was the same. When I reached the cabin for immigration, the officer saw my passport, I gave the sealed envelope & e medical to him. He told me that I would have to go to another cabin at the end. One Policeman accompanied me to that cabin, the officer there took the passport & all other papers from the policeman. He then told me to have my seat & informed that I will be called after some time. There were about 4 of us. They check all our papers I think! After 10 minutes, the officer called me & told me that everything is fine & I can leave, I requested him for a change of address, I had already printed my Son’s address & mobile number & carried with me, gave him that piece of paper, he changed the address in his computer & told me that I could leave
                    Absolutely simple.

I got My US Citizenship last week (Oct 13th, 2022) and planning to apply for Parent's Green Card.
but in my case, the Parent's B2 Visa interview is scheduled for Jan 10th, 2023.
my concern is if I apply for I-130 now will it impact my B2 visa application?
should I apply after I-130 after the B2 Visa interview?

                            TIA..!
Congratulations NihalV for getting your citizenship. Speaking from personal experience, AOS is much quicker than Consular filing. Kindly consult an experienced immigration attorney in USA and only then start the filing procedure for your parents. Wishing you and your family a very "Happy Diwali".
