Any update? I am also in the same boat. My parent's I-130 was approved in MAR-2019 & DS-260 was Documentarily Qualified - in Sep, 2021. I'm still waiting for the interview to be scheduled for my parents.

Thanks all for your responses. Now, I have another wrinkle before the final interview of my parents.
My Dad shared his medical prescription with the Doctor who did his medical exam. In the prescription, there was an anti- depressant medicine name that was mentioned. He asked my Dad why you take it and he told that he takes it because he had depression earlier like 10 years ago and now he takes this as a routine medicine.
The Dcotor said that You look Ok to me and I dont find any issues with you. But, He did say that US immigation is very strict about these things.
My Question is - When Doctor submits his report to US Embassy, Will the Interviewer question him again on this ? Or, Is there a possibility that they may ask again to get any Evaluation done or Can they reject it also ?
How should we prepare for this. Please suggest as per your experiences as we are now worried.
Thanks once again.

Finally today, after having entered the USA 69 days ago, the status for my wife’s green card has been updated to the card has been mailed. Incidentally, my card was received exactly 38 days, after entering. Both cards were sent for being produced on September 18. So, all is well that ends well. Best wishes to all in the waiting.
My mom had a medical check-up in Gandhinagar and she has been told that she did not receive any sealed envelope. She has been told everything online now and she does not need to carry any sealed envelop. she has an interview date in Mumbai in Mid November. She has an email for an interview. Will she be able to request a translator right there? She does not know English.
Which website do I need to check for the status of her interview and tracking for her passport after that? Also, where do I go to pay for her green card fees? Our agent is not being really helpful on this matter and I started worrying as her interview date is getting closer. I will appreciate all input from you and other senior members. GeoMac. Thank you.

Ragarding medical report, your mother has been correctly informed. The sealed envelope is no longer given. It is directly provided to the consulate online. Your mother can request for Gujarati or other language for interview when she will be first called to submit documents at counter no.1. The counter person, an Indian, may even ask her for the preferred language of interview. In our case, we were asked by the counter lady for our preference and when chosen Gujarati, she probably being a Gujarati, started communicating in Gujarati. After that she will be called again at a different counter having an American and a translator. Your mother will have absolutely no problem for lack of English. After interview, you can track the status on https://ceac.state.gov. You will have to pay $ 220 after the interview and before entry to USA for Green Card, as instructed in the paper given after the interview. Best wishes.

Sorry for the late response. But I had noticed that AS45 had already answered the query very nicely. I could not have done better. Hats off to AS45, that he is taking the role of mentor. Request for a translator at window 1. You can track both the issue of visa and then the status of the passport. I think AS45 has already listed the site. The $220 fee will be payable only after you receive the duly stamped passport. The details of the site would be given in the printed approval sheet that will be handed over after the visa is approved. You can pay the fee about a week before the travel to USA.
Best wishes for the interview.

After completion of medical at Apollo Gandhinagar, they must have given her a paper sheet which indicates that the medical is complete. There could be another sheet which shows what all vaccines were injected and a receipt of money paid. That’s all. She has to carry those papers when She goes to interview. Now a days no sealed envelope is given.
About translator, she will be asked at the first window (or by the officer who checks documents) whether she needs a translator. Language will not be a problem.
At the interview window, if visa is approved, the consular officer will tell her that the visa is granted and will keep the passport with him and will tell that the passport with visa printed in it, will come to your address within 5 working days (if you selected premium delivery at the time of biometrics). Yes if premium delivery is selected, they will give you a tracking number by message, with which you can track the Courrier movement. However, all that sometimes does not happen. The Courrier will reach there without any information. Your mum has to keep Rs. 650/- cash to give to the Courrier man.
When the visa is approved, the consular officer will hand over two printed papers. One is to say that the visa is approved. The second paper has instructions for paying $220/- for green card printing. Tell your mum to send you a soft photocopy of that paper and you pay that fee in America before she lands in America. Do not send a check (cheque) as it delays the actual payment.
SORRY sweta85, I read the answer of AlienKanpur and AS45 after I wrote all above. The info. provided by AlienKanpur and AS45 is perfect and sufficient.Last edited by GeoMac; 10-31-2022, 10:52 PM.

Sorry for the delay in responding to your query. To the best of my knowledge if the Doctor had any doubts he would have referred your father to a psychiatrist. If this has not been done I really see no issues. I do remember, one case reported in this forum, where someone was asked at the interview stage for a psychiatrist assessment. I would suggest that your dad carries some document to certify that there are no psychiatrist issues with your Dad. I have also stated that during the interview, there is no need to volunteer information. Provide small crisp answers. Most likely the medical issue will not be brought up. Generally there is no rejection on medical grounds, except in cases of serious contagious disease or maybe insanity. I see no issues in the case of your father. Bestwishes

Thank you for taking the time to answer my questions. I appreciate your help. My mom lives in India alone and I cannot go there to help her at this moment and worried about her stuff. Thanks once again.

I have been inspired by selfless service rendered by you, GeoMac and other senior members of this forum. Most of us are senior citizens, many not so comfortable in English, some are single without living spouse and almost all now dependent on children one way or other. In such scenario, this process is quite stressful for the applicant and more so to the sponsoring child who is mostly away in USA. This forum has been immensely helpful by almost holding the hand right upto inteview window and beyond. This is like a Relay Race and passing the baton to the next Runner. I am trying to do the same and hope it will continue by all potential IR5 immigrants. Thanks for the compliment.

Given that there is a big chance she would be rejected (no other children in India, no job, only 1 apartment and 1 land property deed as proof of return), it was suggested that I start the I130 process for her.
What is the current time to get the green card from the time the I130 is received? Is it less than 2 years? Some posts in this same thread indicate some have got it in a shorter time.
Appreciate your help!
I had posted earlier in this forum that there are two ways to start your mother's immigration:- AOS or Consular filing. For this process please hire an experienced attorney who will guide you accordingly. AOS takes less time in comparison to Consular filing. I have been waiting since 2019 and yet to get my IL in Consular filing. All depends on you. If you do the documentation correctly then you stand a good chance to get your interview letter in a shorter time. This waiting time cannot be predicted in any case. Best wishes and I hope I have cleared your doubts on the subject.
