  • Now it seems that extrapolation table started working again and people are getting IL after September 15 to November 15 2021. Hope next round of IL hits January 2022.

    • Is police clearance certificate good for 2 years ? My moms police clearance certificate is issued one year back (15-nov-2021) and she has her interview data on 27-dec-2022.

Is it good enough ? Or should she get a new police clearance certificate?

        Dear Sandhya,
As per the recent trend the consulate is accepting PCC certificates much older than one year. No issues in your case. Best wishes for the successful adjudication of your visa petition.

Has anyone else faced this situation?
I filed my mom's green card after my father had passed away. They never had any marriage certificate. To prove marriage in lieu of marriage certificate my mother's elder brother filed an affidavit attesting that he was present at their marriage and the details of the date, location, my mother and father's details etc. This was accepted as a valid document.

Marriage certificate is required for father. For mother marriage certificate is not necessary.

                  Dear AS45
What you wrote is never heard before. Marriage certificate is required to prove the relationship of parents as well as parents and children. When any one parent has deceased, the death certificate issued by govt. authority becomes more important than a marriage certificate. Why, because the death certificate contains names of both the deceased as well as living spouse. That proves the death as well as the relationship.

My father arrived here this year a few months ago. He is 77 years old. We live in IL state. He plans to live in US for 8 months and 4 months in India as the cold weather does'nt suit him.

I'm trying to purchase his healthcare insurance for 2023. When I enter all details on healthcare.gov; it says; that local state would be able to provide cheaper insurance. So it provides me insurance rates at full premium price which is very expensive for full year when he only plans to stay for 7-8 months a year.

We asked local state and they provided straight Medicaid; however that insurance comes with a lot of caveats. very few doc, very few hospitals and I personally did not like it.
I tried to buy insurance for new immigrant via insubuy; but they too denied as he is eligible for marketplace insurance.

                    Any other options or suggestions?

I have a question about your parent's visa status. Is he on Greencard ? have you sponsored him for a green card? I am just trying to figure out Medicaid eligibility for parents who is on Greencard sponsored by children.
I heard Medicaid has a good option for treatment and doctor visit coverage.

                    • Hi,

My parents IR5 visa interview was scheduled on Nov 22, 2022
they just got the medical done from Max medical center Mohali. My fathers report was ok but my mother have to take sputum test. They said they will cancel my mothers appointment but father can still go for interview. I have couple of questions
                      1. Can I cancel my fathers interview and reschedule it whenever my mother gets her interview
                      2. how long does it take to reschedule the interview after failed medical test, when they call you after 2 months for retest
                      3. Should I cancel my fathers appointment as well or he should go give the interview alone?
                      4. What’s the process like when someone has to go through sputum test and reschedule interview
                      5. Should my mother still go for the current interview which is scheduled? I read somewhere that person can still go and they will take the interview but not give the visa until negative test results arrive. They put them in administrative processing

                      Thanks

                      • ggg1234 your father should still go for the interview and ensure that his visa is secure. Your mother's interview will be automatically cancelled. She will need to do Sputum test and wait for about 8 to 9 weeks until she gets her results. If the results says that she is all clear, you will have to re-schedule her appointment on the CGI Federal website. Additionally, you will also get email from the Embassy that they have received her medical reports and provide instructions on how to re-schedule the appointment - which is usually under Class B Medical.

Note - you will have to do bio-metrics again as well, which you HAVE to attend, followed by the interview date. But all of this comes after the Sputum test is all clear.

I would def suggest that your father go to interview and let your mother go through the process as directed. Although it may seem worry-some, it is just time and patience. Before you know it, all will be clear and they will be in time to travel together.

I hope this answers your question.

                        Thanks,
                        A

                        • I have not yet received my SSN card.
I tried to call but even after waiting for 1hour, no agent is free to talk. I heard that that there’s a long wait at the office. The SSN office is very far away from my home.
wanted to know from the Forum members if any other member had such issues? Is this because I changed my address at point of entry?
Does the mail come by secure post( signature required) or ordinary post?
I am unable to go forward without SSN
kindly suggest how to get an amicable solution
                          Thank you friends

                              Hi,
Today my wife and myself were visited SSA office (Our PoE is on 14th Oct) here in Virginia after 3 weeks as per the instructions leaflet of US Consulate. SSA officer checked our status but there is no update in SSN records though we have selected in DS 260 form. So, he advised to submit an application in fresh so that he will register then and there itself. So we did the same as advised. He gave us an acknowledment for the same said that SSN will reach you within two weeks time. The whole process took one hour.

                                Hi
Apshah05 has nicely explained and advised correct steps in such situation. You have mentioned retest for medical after 2 months. There is no such retest after two months. You will get result of sputum test in about 6 to 8 weeks and result will be sent directly to your medical agency and if negative, subsequently to US consulate. This is just to clear misunderstanding if any. Best wishes to your mother for negative result.
