  • Hi Everyone,

New to this forum and thanks for the wonderful efforts from many of you for sharing your experience and advice. Hope to do my bit after my mothers interview.

    DQ - Oct 2021
Interview Date - Dec 7 (Mumbai)

Q1: My mom is currently with me on a visitor visa with extension applied through I-539. We are travelling next week to Mumbai. Do we need to update I-94 / latest visit details on DS 260 ?

Q2 : My mother will take my latest W-2 & tax filing documents with her for the interview. Do we also need to upload the latest documents online ?

Q3: My mother has not received a postal copy of the Interview Letter from the consulate at her India address. So all we have is the e-mail from NVC. Do we need a postal copy of the IL or the print of IL e-mail works ?

      Dear kartik_n
Congratulations for visa interview for your mom. I think it should have come about 2 months earlier looking to the present trend. Answer to your Q1 - Physical copy of I 94 will not be asked for by the visa officer, neither do you need to upload. Off course the Visa Officer (VO) will ask - Did you ever travel to the US? The answer should be YES and the dates of visit should be remembered by your mom, in case asked. Following question definitely will be - Did you overstay? Here mom has to present a document as an evidence of application for v.visa extension otherwise it may appear as overstay.
      2. If you upload the latest w2 and tax documents, it will be good because the VO will see it in the system and will not ask for hard copies. Still, I suggest carry the hard copies along at interview.
      3. They do not send postal copy. All you have to do is print the email and DS260 confirmation letter. You will need these letters at medical, biometrics and at interview.
Best wishes for success and ease at all of these three encounters. Do not worry, all are easy.

        Dear reshmadparikh
The VO will cancel the visitor visa when he approves the immigration visa.

Some questions for getting biometerics appointment via https://cgifederal.secure.force.com/...&country=India do you create separate accounts for both mother and father ? If it is one account than how do we get appointment for both of them.

In my case two separate I-130 and applications were filed for my parents.

          1. I tried to create account in my fathers name and add my mother as dependent it did not work.
          2. Next I tried to separate accounts for my mother and it complains that similar profile exists
          3. Since I tried all of above eventually they froze my account for 72 hours .

What am I missing here, please help.

          Sanjay

          Hi ssahni145,

I am having the same issue when trying to schedule an appointment for biometrics for my mom on the CGI federal website and it locked me out for 72 hours. When I went in to the website, it asked me to book interview date (not sure why since NVC already scheduled the interview for Jan 25, 2023) and did not let me go past that page. I tried creating a new account and after that it locked me out for 72 hours. Wanted to check with you how it got resolved in your case. Appreciate your feedback. Thanks.

          Thanks,

          AV

            Hi AV,

Your account will open with in 48 to 72 hours. No worries on that. I finally resolved my problem by calling US Docs hotline which is available in India time. You can call them from India or US both.

In website if you follow correct ones it will take you to biometerics booking page (with drop down interview location) - hope you are not confusing the two?

Steps I followed on CGI Fed:
Immigrant Visa --> Select Country(State Of Residence) --> Language (English) -->All Immigrant Diversity Visas --> Visa Class (IR5) --> POST Changed due to visa class ( as mine was delhi) --> Fill All details (passport/contact) etc --> Fill other parent details (Dependent, this is where I was stuck - system error) --> and so on... finally to the page where you select any of the 4 centers to schedule your bio metrics.

If still confused I would higly recommend calling US Docs number they are easily available and are helpful - India work hours.

            Telephone
            91-120-4844644
            or 91-40-4625-822
            From the U.S.: 703-520-2239

            Hope this helps.

Heartiest congratulations for getting the IL. Since your dad lives in Kolkata, he should get his medical and biometrics in or close to Kolkata. Please note that the medical must be done at least six days before the interview. Medical report is uploaded. Only some summary sheet will be handed over to be presented at the time of interview. Best wishes.
Thank you so much for the reply. My dad decide to fly to Mumbai as there was no medical facility in Kolkata that is USCIS approved. As you mentioned, Medical report was uploaded and a summary sheet will be handed over. But, it says what were completed, does not say if the medical test passed or not. Thinking about asking my dad to give Rele Clinic a call to know if it passed or not. Any other experience?

                  Dear GeoMac,

Thank you so much for you prompt response, this was very helpful. One more question - The Affidavit of Support: Form I-864 Original that we are supposed to take for the interview, I presume we take the original Form I-864 that was signed and uploaded when applying - can you please confirm ? Just want to make sure we are not expected to update latest information related to current employer / annual income / most recent tax returns on Form I-864.

                  Thanks,
                  Kartik

                    Dear kartik_n
Your mom should carry the original I-864 and all other documents that are uploaded, with her to interview in case the VO wants to verify. Normally they do not ask but to be on safer side, one must be fully equipped.
About new employment and income documents, it’s ok if you upload or not, however they must be carried along to the interview.

Great news dear shandey, if your dad was given the summary sheet without any further instructions, means all is clear. No need to phone any one. Now prepare for the interview. Best wishes for a successful adjudication.

I think there is a small misunderstanding on your part dear AlienKanpur. Shandey’s father has to undergo medical and biometrics as yet.

Good to hear from you GeoMac. Heartening to see that you are still active on the forum. One of us is certainly mistaken. I wonder why did shandey write, that he will ask his father to phone Rele clinic and find whether he passed or not. How are things going on with you all. By God’s grace we all are doing well. Best wishes.

                            • Just finished submitting I-864EZ & DS 260 for my parents, however in the NVC portal its showing civil documents as "NA". was that the case for most or any of you?
if there is a "sticky" or a resource that lists out civil documents that parents from India need to have- if someone could point me to that I would appreciate it.
