Thank you for all your guidance. My parents arrived in the US earlier this month. They traveled by Air France, and it was a pretty uneventful journey -- so all went well without any hiccups.

I have changed address since the time of the original application, so thought of visiting the local Social Security office here. They neither helped me update the address, nor provided me any information about the address they had on file where the SSN cards would be sent out. It is likely they have sent my father's card to the old address, since they said it had been processed almost a week ago, and we have not received it yet. For my mother, they do not even see any SSN application in the system. This was surprising to me, in that my father's SSN card has already been dispatched, while they had no clue about my mother's SSN. In your cases, did you receive the SSN cards for yourself and spouse around the same times (1-2 days here or there), or separated by longer durations ?

      Thanks a lot.
      Hi,
If you don't receive your SSN within 3 weeks time of your PoE, you must contact local SSA office and apply afresh. It is also mentioned the same in the notice given at the time of your IR5 approval by the Consulate. Best wishes.

Heartiest congratulations for getting the IL for your mom. When is the interview? Subsequent to the interview, the officer will immediately tell your mom that your Visa is approved and that her B1/B2 visa is being canceled immediately. Then a stamp will be put on the passport saying that Visa is canceled without prejudice. The passport will be retained by the consulate and within a week the passport will be sent at the address in India, mentioned by your mom, with the temporary Immigrant visa valid for six months from the date of interview. One must enter USA before the expiry of the temporary visa. Best wishes for a successful adjudication.
Thanks for confirming, the appointment is for Jan 31st 2022. I also have a question about the medical test, can I get the medical test done in December about 30-40 days in advance? Clinics in Mumbai and Ahmedabad mentioned that the test can be done only 10 days in advance. When I read online on the travel.state.gov, it says the medical test needs to be done minimum 7 days in advance but no other restrictions.

            Hi,
it is better to do before 7 to 10 days only. Bcos medical reports are valid for 6 months only for PoE to US.

              Hi,
Tax returns are enough, no need for receipts. Immigration officer will not verify all these. They have every information online that you have submitted. Good luck.

                Dear IR5user,
SSN should arrive for both around the same time. Me and my wife got it on the same day. In case you do not get the SSN in three weeks you should make a fresh application at the SSN office. Best wishes.

                  Dear Kotadia,
your mom needs to carry only the tax returns for the last three years. It is advisable to upload those documents. Once uploaded, then most likely even the tax returns will not be asked for. Pay stubs also need to be carried. Best wishes for the upcoming interview. The interview is a very friendly one and you need not have any tension. Best wishes for a successful adjudication.

                    Dear reshmadparikh,
As mentioned by the website, and also by you, the medical needs to be done at least 7 days prior to the interview. I wonder why the Mumbai and Ahmadabad clinics have a 10 day restriction. I had my medical at Delhi on May 11 and my interview was on June 10. The only point to keep in mind is that the validity of the medical test is six months. One has to enter US before the expiry of the medical. Best wishes.

Now I can cancel or reschedule VAC. I don't see any option to take a Immigration Visa Interview at Consulate.
                      Hi
I was also in USA on visitor visa when I received IL for September 2022. I tried to postpone it by calling helpline numbers as well as by email. But received no satisfactory solution and attended the interview by cutting short the visit. I noted that telephonic response was better than email. You may call on helpline numbers for help in rescheduling. Regarding AOS at this stage, as GeoMac has advised, consult an immigration attorney. Best wishes.

New to this forum and thanks for the wonderful efforts from many of you for sharing your experience and advice. Hope to do my bit after my mothers interview.

                        DQ - Oct 2021
Interview Date - Dec 7 (Mumbai)

Q1: My mom is currently with me on a visitor visa with extension applied through I-539. We are travelling next week to Mumbai. Do we need to update I-94 / latest visit details on DS 260 ?

Q2 : My mother will take my latest W-2 & tax filing documents with her for the interview. Do we also need to upload the latest documents online ?

Q3: My mother has not received a postal copy of the Interview Letter from the consulate at her India address. So all we have is the e-mail from NVC. Do we need a postal copy of the IL or the print of IL e-mail works ?
Hi there - did your mom arrive on visitor visa after you had filed for her IR5 visa? Did she have any issues with immigration officer?
Filed for mom but she was DQ only August 15th, so It looks like it will be a while before she will get her IL. Lost my dad end of august so it is a bit hard to have her alone, and want to bring her here for a few months while we wait. She has been to the US before >10 times. Let me know if you have any inputs based on your experience. thank you.

                          Dear vmsk0716,
It seems that you are relatively new to this forum. A lots of posts are available related to this issue. Several of us have travelled to USA after the petition for IR5 had been filed. As per the posts in the forum no body had any issues at the port of entry (PoE). I and my wife travelled to USA in May of 2021. Our DQ date was March 23, 2021. In general the officer at the PoE will ask the usual questions that may have been asked on her last several visits. Technically, the officer can deny entry and one should be able to convince the officer about the intentions to return. But fortunately this has not happened to any one in the forum. Best wishes for your mom’s forthcoming visit to USA.
