As for the follow up of Sputum testing here.. which I was told earlier at india, no one has contacted me. I know a few people who were contacted within 15 days of arrival to USA. If any other member knows about this, your info will be most appreciated, thank you

Another update for my mom- she had to go through Sputum test and we got a letter in mail yesterday to reach putt o department of public health for this. It is about 15 days of her entry into the country. she has to call department of public health before 12/31.

any one has any idea what kinds of test do they do ?

At interview, your mother can ask for the interpreter at the counter when called to submit the documents. Interpreter will be provided as per her request. Best wishes.

My mother has IR5 interview in Mumbai on Jan 25th at 7.15 am. Can members suggest some very nearby / good hotels for stay? Also given it is very early in the morning, believe we need to be there by 6 a.m? Appreciate any guidance.

Immigrant visa issued after IR5 interview for the person who passed medical is valid for how many months? 3 months or 6 months?
Also, if someone had to go thru Sputum test and after receiving negative result appeared in interview, then what is the validity of immigrant visa issued? is it 3 months?

IR5 visa validity will be 6 months from the date of medical if cleared otherwise 3 months from the date of result of sputum test.

So, in that case, person who has cleared IR5 interview without SPUTUM test has 6 months time to travel to US? Is it OK to wait for 6 months to travel to US or they should travel in 3 months?
My mother cleared medical test and is scheduled for interview on Dec 23rd. My father had to go thru SPUTUM test and we are waiting for result. I am trying to see if they both can travel together.

Hi,
Trident Hotel is the best option ( a bit costly). The US Consulate is just behind this hotel. It is two minutes walk. If we stay in Trident, they will arrange pick up from airport to hotel and on they day of interview they arrange a vehicle to drop at Consulate entrance. It's a courtesy and free of cost.

The Visa Tracker shows that the last visa interview letter was received on NOV 21.It was for DQ date Jan 22, 2022. Interviews for DQ dates from March 30 appear completed.

Can members please advise whether parents like me whose DQ date is Feb 4 onwards can hope to get Interview letters shortly?.

Yes, your mother will have a visa expiry date 6 months from Medicals. Your father will have probably about 5 months from Medicals( 2months for sputum test result + 3 months ). They can travel together before the expiry of both visas. Best wishes wishes for interview and speedy sputum test result.
