They can stay anywhere after they enter USA. Best wishes. Do share the experience of your parents on this forum.
    Dear Mr AlienKanpur,
Thanks so much for the best wishes and response to my question. I will be sure to post some additional details about my parents’ experience during the whole process. We are now trying to figure out the best medical insurance for them before they get here. I am sure there are some previous posts related to that or perhaps a separate thread for “what’s next after green card”.
    Best regards!

    • Hello everyone,

I am relaying my parent’s recent experience with medical, biometrics and interview process. My parents were DQed in Nov (Dad) and Dec (Mom) of 2021. Their medical exam was on Nov 17th, 2022 at Max Delhi while the biometrics was on Dec 15th in Mumbai (interview was on Dec 16th).
      - Medical exam took about 3 hours waiting mostly for the doctor. After reading some of the posts on this forum, I had asked my parents to get all the vaccines before the exam. As a result, they were able to show documents for all of the vaccines and didn’t need to get any during the medical exam. Overall, no issues with the exam.
      - Biometrics went fairly smoothly. They asked for two photographs for each parent and stapled them to DS260 page and returned it to them.
      - Before the Interview, my parents went to a counter where they had to show their documents (marriage certificate, birth certificate, police verification and passport). The guy at the counter asked if the biometrics was completed (presumably because it was done just the day before?). After that, my parents had to wait to be called in again for their interview. The interviewer asked the following questions:
-Who is sponsoring your green card?
      - What do they do? When did they come to US? Are they married? Where do they live?
      - When was the last time you were in US? How long were you there?
      - How many kids do they have?
-(he then turns to my mom and asks) What is the cutest thing your grand daughter did that you remember?
After the questions, he said that all documents are in order and hands them two copies of the approval slip. He let them know that the passport will arrive in 3-5 business days through the method selected when the biometrics appointment was selected.

Hopefully this is helpful to others who are about to go through this process.

Got an email from USCIS that her green card was dispatched today - 40 days after she entered US. Thanks a lot to all senior members here for providing their input and directions throughout this process.

Mother went to interview today 27-Dec-2021 for IR5 Visa. Her VISA got rejected.
She is a doctor and has practiced in England for 10 years from 1974 to 1984. She has returned back to India and never visited England back.
Now the Counsalate wants her to produce a POLICE CLEARANCE CERTIFICATE from UK.
-- Any guidance on where and how to get the police clearance certificate from England?
-- Do we need to submit the document online? OR take the document in person back with another interview date?
-- How do I obtain another interview date with the US Counsalate in Bombay??
          Dear sandhyaa,
Your mom's visa is rejected for want of additional document, isn't it? Did the visa officer give her a paper asking for additional document i.e. police clearance certificate from UK? (I am wondering why they did not ask it before DQing her case.) Anyway, now do not worry, what you need to do is, ask for “NO TRACE” certificate. For that you need to go to this website [ https://www.acro.police.uk/Police-Certificates-Online ] and read all the info. there and apply online with all required documents and pay fees. There are two options, in 4 days or in 12 days. Accordingly the amount varies.
Now as I wrote earlier, if the visa officer has given her a paper asking for additional documents, there must be instructions how and where to submit the additional document. As long as I know, you need not take another date for interview. Once you provide the required document, they will grant visa ASAP.

          • Thank you Dear GeoMac. They have given a paper on how to apply for police clearance manually for UK.

We are applying online to UK clearance. Once we obtain the document do we need to submit it online ? or do we take in person to the interview?

Also, Can you point me how I to take appointment manually on the CGI website portal?

              Dear abhd,

Congratulations on your parents successful interview and thanks for sharing the details. I have one follow-up question. You mentioned that you advised your parents to get the required vaccines beforehand and those documents were accepted by the Doctor during medical exam. I am planning to do the same for my mother in future. I was wondering what type of documents your parents obtained when they received the vaccines. I am asking this because, usually when I get a vaccine in US, they provide you a printed certificate with name/dob/date/place/generic name of vaccine. However, in small towns in India, vaccines are mostly taken from local pharmacies or Doctor offices, so the only document will probably be the Doctor's prescription mentioning the details in handwriting. I am worried if the medical exam centers will accept that kind of handwritten document at all or will they ask her to take the vaccines from them again. That is why thought to ask you.
              Best wishes.

                Dear sandhyaa
It is yet not clear what is written in that paper which the Visa officer gave. It can have two things 1. The name of the document to be provided. 2. How and where to submit that document? They sholdar have instructed to submit that document at the nearest or convenient VAC.
                3. As you say - they have instructed how to obtain UK Police Clearance Certificate.
Are these three points in that letter? Have they kept the passport with them or returned it to your mom?
It would make it easy to understand if you throw some light on these questions.

                • Dear Geo Mac,

I'm unable to attach the document. It is a general document with information on how to obtain "No Trace" police report.
It does not state any further steps or information.

No other documentation or instructions are provided.
Did not mention where to submit the document.

They did not take the passsport.

Thank you soo much for your guidance

                  • Hello,
This forum helped a lot to understand when and what can expected. My parents DQ was Oct 5 2021 and they got their IL on Nov 5 2022. Their interview completed on 7 Dec 2022 at Mumbai Embassy. They got letter stating your visa approved and their passport were taken at embassy. They got their passport back on Dec 10 2022 with letter stating your visa rejected you have to submitted additional documents.
                    additional document were ask are:
                    1) Birth certificate of petitioner.
                    2) original marriage certificate of my parents ( beneficiaries )
                    3) photos of beneficiaries wedding
                    4) photographs of petitioner life time growing with beneficiaries. ( which basically I growing up with my parents
                    )

                    - My parents hired an agent to help them arrange all documents and he advice them not to carry any photos, so they didn’t carry.
                    - My parents took my Birth certificate and their marriage certificate original in interview the person at first window took all those documents and return back to my parents.

I didn’t know what went wrong and they got rejected and asked for same document again.

My parents submitted asked document on Dec 14 2022 at Ahmedabad US document drop off location.
I am still waiting on response from Visa Office.

Question is did anyone happen to be similar situation ? If yes, how long it take to receive passport back or hear from visa office.

Respond from senior of this group is much appropriate.
                    Thank you

Since its holidays I came down to help them with Interview prep.
My dad is 75 - can I go with them as the helper/translator on the day of the interview?

                        Best Regards

                            Dear Sandhyaa,
our most senior member GeoMac has already responded to your query. It was inevitable that they would want a police clearance from UK. There is nothing to panic. Generally in such a situation they give the form 221(g) with all the instructions. Now you should just get the document and submit the same along with the passports to any VAC. Generally no prior appointment will be needed to submit the document. Best wishes. Do not despair.

                              Dear dqoct52021,
this quite a strange situation. To my knowledge this kind of situation has not been reported in this forum. Did the birth certificate of the petitioner contain both the parents name? As a matter of fact the birth certificate would have been submitted and accepted at the I-130 stage. Anyways, now that they have asked for the documents, you had no choice but to submit the same. More than two weeks have elapsed after the submission of the documents. I am sure you can check the status of the visa on the websites mentioned several times in this forum. Please keep in mind that it is the holiday season and things tend to move rather slowly. Hopefully by the coming Monday or Tuesday you will be able to see some updates. In any case there is no reason to despair. Things will be ok. Keep checking the status. Best wishes for the successful adjudication of the petition.
