When I filled out DS260 for my parents, on the last page by mistake, I selected "NO" for assistance in filling the form.
So I was planning to draft a letter stating that " I have assisted them in filling the form and forgot to put my name as preparing person of this form" since they my parents not good with english language. So they can provide that when their documents are getting checked at the gate.
Or should I just let it to go as it is that "it was filled by my parents".
Please let me know your opinion.
Thanks,
Shanaya
No need to draft a letter for any correction. I had filled my DS260 with some assistance from my daughter. In the form I also selected 'No'. During interview, while submitting the papers at first counter, I was given the choice for language of interview and I chose Gujarati. Because of American accent issue, many choose different language even though they have very good english language skill. Language option has no bearing of your DS260 form content. From entry to exit at American consulate, lack of English is absolutely no issue. Best wishes.

Thank you for your clarification, it is very helpful and it reduced my tension by 50% before their interview

Dear Shanaya Sorry for the delay in responding to your query. I see that your query has been very nicely answered by AS45. Good to see that more people are trying to help each other. Just let it go. No issues if the form was filled by you. No issues if your parents can speak little or no English. Knowing English has no bearing on the outcome of the petition. I consider myself sufficiently comfortable in English. However during the interview I chose the interview language as Hindi, because of two reasons. First one: their pronunciation from behind a glass screen is often muffled and confusing, secondly, it gives more time to think and respond to the question. So just do not worry. Best wishes.
Thank you for your detailed response and suggestion about selecting translator.
Regards,
Shanaya

Since NVC is also a separate process for each of them, I do not know how will they get the VISA appointments together ? Any help, suggestion, past experience would be highly appreciated.
The petition approval date is “Priority date”. This date is important for getting VISA NUMBER in cases of other than IR cases. However the Priority Date is still important in IR cases, when NVC has to decide interview date for parents. If the DQ dates for both parent are different but the Priority dates are same, then they will get the interview on same date. Anyway, when you fill the forms DS260 and upload the documents, please do it very carefully so that both forms get DQed almost same time. In most cases of parents, the DQ date differs because of the birth certificate issue.
IR = Immediate Relative IR5 is for Parents.Last edited by GeoMac; 01-21-2023, 02:59 AM.

Hi,
I am new here and this is my first post. I find thread / forum to be a great source of information. It helps me understand so much and makes the process less ambiguous.
I started processing green card paperwork form my in-laws via the consulate route. I have filed a IR5 petition.
Case Creation: Apr 22, 2022
DQ Date: Nov 4, 2022
I am looking for a tracker where I could see which DQ date has most recently received an IL. Is there such a tracker ?
My In-laws will be coming to the US in March. From everything I have read on this forum so far, I understand that this should not be a problem as long as they have a return ticket and have property and family ties back home which they have. (Two other daughters and property in India etc).
If anyone could tell me if there are any specific documents that they should carry such as their India tax returns, maybe a copy of their I-130 / DQ letter. Is there a specific place on the US I-94 paperwork where we have to tic if an immigration application has been made for the traveller ?

Congratulation on the approval. Could you please share how long it took for I-130 approval after submission? My mother is waiting for her I-130 approval, so trying to get an idea. Best wishes.

My heartfelt condolences for the passing away of your respected Dad. May his soul rest in peace.

I applied the I-130 for my both parents on 11/16/2021, for my mother it got approved on 09/15/2022 but for my father I had to wait till the USCIS enquiry date of regular processing time. Once I put that enquiry it got approved in 15 days, so for my father it got approved on 01/15/23. Now I am doing thier NVC process at same time in the hope they get the interview appointments together. Although in DS260, they ask for accompanying travelers, and both of them mention each other.
