Hello All, Is there anyone here who is in NJ and whose parents came recently on Green Card / IR5. I am looking for some information to get my parents "Medical" but I want to know if they go to India for say 3-4 months every year, how this medical thing is going to work. Please let me know.

Dear ir5_applicant and faizone
The prediction of waiting time after the case is documentarily qualified is rather difficult. Hopefully it would be between six to eight months. It may decrease or increase. Nothing can be predicted with certainty. As of now I know of cases DQ in July 22 have received IL in Jan 23, with interview in March 23. One may extrapolate. Hopefully things will be speeded up. Best wishes to all in waiting.

thanks AlienKanpur.
Do you know after the documents are submitted, how long will it take to get DQ status?

nothing can be predicted with certainty. I can tell you about our case. Our DS 260 was flied in August 2020. In November 2020 we got an RFE(referral for evidence). The response to that was submitted in January 2021 first week. Our cases got DQ on March 23, 2021. We got the IL on May 4, 2022. Interview on June 10, 2022. Entered USA on August 17, 2022. Things are now more efficient. Things are moving faster. Hopefully within five to six months of submission of all documents to NVC, the case could be DQ. Then another six months for the interview. Best wishes.

Not sure if links will be allowed here though

Because I believe Medicare is only available for who has 40 quarter points in their SS Account.
At this point only option is to purchase it from healthcare.gov and you have to pay premium even though they are in India for 3-4 months.

please send both. Try to upload the same if possible. If uploaded, the officer may not even ask for it during the interview. But even then, the hard copy it must be carried. Best wishes.

2022 tax transcript will not be available on IRS website until June/July.
So you can send copy of the tax return form.

I have a question regarding passport validity for my mom's consulate interview for green card. Here's her situation:
- Biometrics scheduled for Jan 18th
- Consulate interview scheduled for Feb 15th
- Planned travel to US: 3rd week of March
- Her Indian passport expires Early Nov'23
So her passport expires within 8 months of her planned travel date.
My questions are:
- Could this be an issue at the time of green card interview? I read somewhere that the passport should be valid for more than 8 months from planned travel date
- If a new passport should be applied for in between biometrics and consulate interview, do we need to submit any additional paperwork with the new passport number?
I would appreciate the wisdom from experts on this forum
So as far i know, the passport should be valid for at least 6 months when you go for the visa interview. In your case it is. So shouldn't be an issue.

Hi Thank you,
My father got the visa on Nov 22, 2022. My mothers sputum results arrived negative. My mother got call from US Consulate of Mumbai, They said to come for visa interview on Jan 24, 2023. She asked them about fingerprint appointment. They told her to book one. I am little confused now. I did not get any official email. The number they called from was +91 22 26724000. I went ahead and scheduled the fingerprint for Jan 22, 2023 and Visa appointment for Jan 24, 2022 on CGI website. I also confirmed from Max hospital that they sent my mothers report to Embassy and we are good to schedule appointment. Now the problem is, the interview I scheduled was from my fathers profile where my mother is listed as dependent. Should I keep the appointment and should my mother go for the interview. My father already got the visa, he will be accompanying her to Mumbai for interview.
I could not create separate profile for my mother as it was complaining that her information is already in database linked to my fathers profile
