We have arranged for medical exam already through approved hospital.

How exactly do we get biometrics appointment? Is OFC appointment same as biometrics? I would appreciate if someone could post a link where we need to make this appointment.
    Thank you
    Dear AutisticManChild,
Heartiest congratulations for the scheduling of the interviews for you. Best wishes. The Biometric can be scheduled through a link mentioned in the interview letter. I do not know about OFC, we generally call VAC appointment. I guess OFC and VAC are kinda similar. best wishes.
I think that the following link will take you to the appropriate page.

after you click you will be advised to go to :

create an account if not already done and proceed from there. Somewhere you will have to choose " all diversity and Immigration Visa".

        Dear VKR
Thank you for this information. I am in NYC and am also in need of making life certificate. I tried the online process but all in vain. Does not work. I will go to the NYC branch of SBI and then post here the outcome.

One question -- her first name was listed as FNU on the NVC letter due to passport printing first + last name in the "surname" row. Anyway, we rectified this and got a new passport. question is - where does she bring this up - when she goes to the first window for document check or at the interview with the immigration officer? Would really like to fix this so it doesn't become an issue moving forward. Has anyone gone through this? Any thoughts? Thanks for your time.
          Dear vmsk0716
Congrats and best wishes for your mom's interview. You need to upload the new passport too on her nvc account and she should present both passports at the interview and mention the reason. No worries.

Did you check your parents documents if still at NVC? what is the status at NVC?
IF it say still at NVC then you can call the NVC and ask to forward your parents documents to Mumbai Consulate as it was DQ 5 months ago. Once it was forwarded and the status is ready
then you can request and interview date or you can schedule it yourself at the USTRAVELDOCS.com just like any visa application but in the immigrant section.

            • Update -- Dad underwent an interview yesterday at the Mumbai Embassy. It was a tiring experience, his appointment was 8.30 AM, he went in at 8, and came out at 12.30 !! . They did not even provide the option of translator / interpreter. He was unable to comprehend questions, as he has poor hearing [ he does have HA]. Initially, one interviewer could not get through to him so another person came he was able to answer all the questions. They asked around 10-15 questions most of which were expected. One unexpected question was they were asking for the photo of his daughter who was the primary petitioner. He was quick enough to point out that there is a photo in the naturalization certificate. My dad is 82, and for someone of his age, it was a harassing experience sitting for 4 hours and not providing clear instructions inside. Well alls well that ends well, he did get his GC approved. One thing I have to say this group has been amazing, I coached him well in all the past experiences, so he was kind of up to the task. Thank you so much. Feel free to reach out with any questions and all the best to everyone.

heartiest congratulations to you and your Dad for the successful adjudication of your petition, in spite of all the odds. Quite a surprising experience. We never heard of such a situation in the forum over the last one year that I have been associated with. This post will at least warn all those in waiting to be ready for such a situation. Best wishes for his trip to USA. Heartiest congratulations again.

                    • Just wanted to update the group. My mom had her interview today at 8:30am @ the Mumbai consulate. She went in at 8 and got out by 9:30. She would have come in sooner but the translator was about 30 mins late.

                      Mom said very straightforward questions:
                      - Who sponsored your green card?
                      - What state does son live in?
                      - Is he married?
                      - how many ppl in household?
                      - A couple of questions about where my dad was (he passed away). The officer was apparently very nice about it and offered her condolences.

And that's it. Visa approved. Passport will be mailed in about 3-5 days. Huge thanks to this group especially to AlienKanpur Shanaya and GeoMac - you have no idea how helpful your input has been ---- THANK YOU.

If anyone has any specific questions about the interview, i can provide further info. thanks
