My dad is about to travel to US and is extremely nervous about life certification.

No worries at all. It is pretty standard for SBI. In the past in Boston, I used to sign the life certificate and get it notarized by early November and send by USPS (normal mail which take 10days) in addition to scanned copy sent by email. In NYC, the presence of SBI makes it so much easier. If you visit in November you would see around 100 odd pensioners everyday at the 460 Park avenue branch getting life certificates signed. Previously it used to be chaotic but for the past 2 years I have seen that they have streamlined it quite a bit. Good luck GeoMac.

Hello all,

The guidance from this forum has been instrumental in navigating the process. My father's visa was approved on 4/14 at the Mumbai consulate. A couple of questions that confound me that I am hoping to get guidance on from the experts here:

1. The CEAC website still doesn't show any updates to my father's application - still says "case at mumbai consulate". Am I missing looking at a section which mentions an update here?
2. Where can I go track the status of the passport if it has been dispatched or not? We don't have any emails / messages yet and with travel planned, we are in a pinch on what to do here.

What would be the best course of action here? Should I reach out to the consulate to get some information on the case?

Question - is there a way to verify that address was in fact correctly changed in the system and is there a way to track the printing/delivery of actual green card online?

Congrats Nik_sam for reaching the US. Change of address will definitly happen, do not worry. And do not worry about green card either. SS card will arrive in one week and then GC in 35 to 90 days. When SS card comes, that will be confirmation of your address change.
GC comes from USCIS, so you can check case status on your USCIS account.

Hi everyone - this thread has been especially helpful in havigating my parents green card consular processing. They received their IL recently and I am trying to figure out how long I need in Mumbai. Since they are elderly and reside in Bangalore I will need to visit and bring them to Mumbai for the interview. My questions are

- Is it ok to schedule their fingerprinting for the day before the interview? Or is it better to do it earlier than that?
- where is the location of the Mumbai fingerprinting site? I cannot find an address.

You can upload the new passport bio page in the CEAC website and take the new + old passport to the interview (with photocopies). No stress.

Thank you very much VKR, for this information and for your compliments. I called the SBI at 460 Park Avenue. The lady who attended the phone, was really helpful and understanding. She heard all questions patiently and answered to the point and gave information which cleared all my confusions. I am going to the branch tomorrow for the life certificate.

Dont you worry. This has been the case with quite some people in past. You can carry both passports to the interview. Consular Officer will not even ask a question on this point. They are very positive and understanding. You have time to upload the new passport's image on your CEAC account. All the best.
