    Two quick question
    1. So you did not have to go social security admin office to apply for SSN, is that right? I had indicated that I need SSN on DS-260. And I am hoping I dont have to do anything but wait. Please correct if my assumption is wrong.
    2. You mentioned: For both, Green Card arrived on April 29, 2023, after getting notification on March 24, 2023, that it has been sent for printing.
Did you get the notification of "green card printing", the 'same' day your parents arrived in USA? My father arrived April 26th, 2023 and I did not get any such notification yet.

    Thanks
    1. I did not have to go to SSN office since I selected while filling DS260. So your assumption is correct.
    2. Sorry it is mistake. It is April 24, 2023 when I got notification that it was sent for printing.

      Congratulations Shanaya.

Quick question: you being US citizen, they didn’t allow you to accompany them? Do they allow petitioner to accompany if he/she is US citizen? I have filed for my spouse.
      Thanks in advance.

ANother question - we have not filed our 2022 tax returns yet and have the proof for extension request. Will that be good enough or will the 2022 return become a show stopper?
        Dear veeranj,
Your question about 2022 tax returns is a little dicey. I have read in the forum that the beneficiary was asked to show the 2022 returns of the petitioner. Since you have obtained an extension for filing your returns, maybe there will be no issue. Let your mom carry the previous returns of the last two years and this permission for late filing. In any case, this will not be a show stopper. At worst, the beneficiary can be given the form 221(g) asking for the 2022 tax returns. Hopefully that should not happen. Best wishes.

At interview, they do not allow petitioner to accompany or even any other person.

          • Hello,

Getting bit anxious as no feedback from NVC after DQ email ( DQ is 30th Jan 2023). In last few weeks there is no movement on IL or Interview date announcement? Do we know if what is current DQ getting processed for IL/Interview dates?

Tracking sheet missing update since April 14. Can everyone help sharing progress?

            Tracking sheet --> https://www.immihelp.com/forum/immig...itizen/page260

First of all, they only schedule interviews once a month. So next update will be in few weeks.
By tracking excel page they have reached Mid November 2022 DQ cases.

It took us 6 months from DQ to get IL. Interview scheduled two months after IL. This seems to be the experience of many in the forum. Give it another month, you will most likely get IL 3rd or 4th week of June and interview late August/early September. I do feel the pace has picked up recently. Don't feel anxious, trust the process. It is slow but is getting more predictable.

                • Hi all, i am trying to understand the process for mandatory vaccinations. My mom is 84, should we wait for the medical exam where the doctor will tell us which vaccines to take? Will that doctor administer the vaccines? Or should we go prepared by taking vaccines before the medical exam?

Since we will have to travel from another town, I was hoping we could do the medical exam, vaccines and visa interview in the same trip to Mumbai.

My mom had obtained GC in 2010, which is now expired, and hence has been vaccinated in 2009, which i think is too old to be valid anymore.

                    Dear vbk2020,
we have come a long way, since I got DQ on March 23, 2021. Got my interview letter on May 4, 2022. Absolutely no communications in between. Things are moving much faster now. I guess that the wait time is now about six months. May has already begun, expect to hear from the NVC in June sometime. The tracking sheet is hardly of any use. There are always some aberrations. Best wishes for the IL.

                      Dear user2022,
Do not go for mandatory vaccinations. Go for the medical. Take the covid vaccination certificate or any other vaccination certificate that you might have. During the medical exam the Doctor will advice the needed vaccinations. You will be required to buy vaccines from the hospital pharmacy and they will be administered right there.
Please keep in mind that the medical must be done atleast six days before the VISA interview. So you cannot plan to have all the three things during one visit, unless you wish to stay in Mumbai for a week.
                      Best wishes

                        Hello user2022,

In Mumbai, Medical Exam is conducted by Rele Clinic. You need to carry all previous available vaccine records. You may take previous green card vaccine records if available. They will decide the necessary vaccines and administer at the same time. Many vaccines need to be taken once in life time. So they will decide the validity of already taken vaccines. Keep gap of two days for biometrics and Medicals. Rele Clinic insists gap of atleast seven days between Medical and Consulate Interview. Best wishes to your mother.

                        • My mom's GC was approved yesterday so wanted to provide some details here that could be helpful to the community. Most of what I have below has already been explained in detail in other posts.
                          • Started the process in March 21.
                          • I130 approved in June 21
                          • Submitted all paperwork to NVC in September 21.
                          • Mom did not have a birth certificate and they repeatedly rejected the affidavits so we lost 12 months back and forth before it was DQed in September 22.
                          • IL received March 23. Scheduled biometric and medical
                          • Biometric April 5, 23
                          • Medical April 18, 23.
                          • Interview date May 3, 23.
                          • Interview at Mumbai consulate at 7:15 am.
                          • Mom reached 45 minutes earlier. A huge crowd had already assembled.
                          • At 7:00 am, they asked the 7:15 appt individuals to line up and keep the Interview letter and DS-260 with VAC stamp out.
                          • Locker is available to keep phones etc. She was charged Rs. 100
                          • She carried two folders - one with the main paperwork required and the other with backup paperwork
                          • As soon as she entered, they collected the following - Passport (only the latest, not the old ones), Two affidavits since we did not have a birth certificate for her, my marriage certificate, Interview letter, DS-260 confirmation with the VAC stamp, India PCC
                          • PCC within the last 2 years is fine. Mom's was issued September 21.
                          • IMPORTANT: They asked if she had lived in another country for more than a year. Mom had stayed as a tourist in another country for more than a year due to covid lockdown. Luckily, we had obtained PCC from that country and could produce it.
                          • She was asked if she needed an interpreter.
                          • She got a token and waited for her interview call. Took 1.5 hours due to the crowd.
                          • Interviewer asked about me - when did I come to the US, what am I doing here. Asked about their previous visits. The interviewer also asked if they had lived in another country for more than a year. She then looked at that country's PCC.
                          • Interviewer asked for my latest tax transcripts. Luckily, I had filed for 2022 and had transcripts and already uploaded them. If you haven't filed, make sure the previous one is uploaded and you have filed for extension.
                          • Interview was short and at the end, her GC was approved and she got a letter to pay the fees.
                          • Passport would arrive in couple of days.
We carried backup documents like correspondence between me and mom, photographs with mom etc. She was not asked for those. She was also not asked for her photographs.

Thank you all for the support and good luck to all waiting for the next milestone in their GC journey. I will report back when mom is here and we start helping her settle down.

My father got the visa on Nov 22, 2022. My mothers sputum results arrived negative. My mother got call from US Consulate of Mumbai, They said to come for visa interview on Jan 24, 2023. She asked them about fingerprint appointment. They told her to book one. I am little confused now. I did not get any official email. The number they called from was +91 22 26724000. I went ahead and scheduled the fingerprint for Jan 22, 2023 and Visa appointment for Jan 24, 2022 on CGI website. I also confirmed from Max hospital that they sent my mothers report to Embassy and we are good to schedule appointment. Now the problem is, the interview I scheduled was from my fathers profile where my mother is listed as dependent. Should I keep the appointment and should my mother go for the interview. My father already got the visa, he will be accompanying her to Mumbai for interview.
I could not create separate profile for my mother as it was complaining that her information is already in database linked to my fathers profile

                            • I am in the same situation, how did you get around it in the end. Did you use the same profile and booked the apply for both again. Please advise.

You will need to pay the US$ 220 fee about a week prior from the date of departure from India. Best wishes to you all on the start of a new chapter in life for you all.
