  • My parents had their IV interview in Mumbai on Monday (8/21) and received their passports with the IV yesterday via BlueDart. Here are somethings which people may find useful:
    • I came to India to accompany them to Mumbai and we stayed at Sofitel. Perfect location (5mins away) and really nice place. Highly recommend the Indian breakfast (room service) in the morning before the interview ;-)
    • my parents were asked about 15questions about me, my wife and sibling. Most of them were listed here. I dont remember seeing this question (maybe I missed it) - on which visa did you son go to the US, which other visas was he on before becoming a citizen.
    • the consular officer was *very* polite. My father has a hearing aid and even he could hear her questions with no issues. My mother was planning to answer the questions worried that he may not be able to hear but they split the questions between them!
    • if possible, really helps to organize the petitioner and sponsors docs in separate folders. Makes the documentation verification process very fast. Overall, it took them less than 1.5hours from the time I dropped them at the appointment verification area outside the embassy to when they came out.
    • my parents carried 3 years of my tax transcripts and employment letters from my employer and my wife's both of which had start dates, titles, salary etc. No other financial or other info. They only were asked the three years of tax transcripts. I did not upload that anywhere prior to the interview
    • to track the passport after successfully completing interview one can do the following
    Thanks all!

    • Hello, I have a question regarding SSN and GC. The US address that was mentioned in the form has changed and I was wondering if there is any way to update the new address. Should I enter my current address first and then pay the $220 immigrant fee or can I change the address after paying the fees? Any link where we can change the address? Thank you.

NF23 I moved apartments after my parents’ case had been DQed and this is what my lawyer’s guidance on that said:
Please submit the AR-11 form on the USCIS website. You should answer "no" to the question of whether you have an application or petition in process. Here is the website for completing the form: https://www.uscis.gov/ar-11. The form should be submitted within 10 days after moving.

        Instructions:

        1. Select "File Online"

        2. Scroll down and select "Continue"

        3. Answer "No" to the question of whether you have a pending immigration application or petition

        4. Insert your name, date of birth, A number, old address, new address, confirm that the new address is the mailing address, email address.

        5. Select "Applicant or Petitioner" from the drop-down menu for who is filing the change of address form

        6. Fill in the security code and submit the form

        7. Print or save a digital copy of the confirmation page on the next screen and download the Form AR-11 and save it as a PDF so that you have a personal record of reporting the address change.

        • Hello,
Where does one track the Green Card, whether it has been issued or dispatched?
          Thank you.

          • I am 63 years, father of US citizen , my IV petition is approved by USCIS and I have submitted all the documents to NVC on 31st July23. The NVC site states the status of documents"ACCEPTED' as on 29th Aug 23. Does it mean that my case is now DOCUMANTARILY COMPLETE ?
or NVC still has to assess and formally approved my case as ' Documentarily Complete' and sent to US consulate Mumbai for scheduling my interview ? Please appraise if you can.

                  • Some questions on life after GC for parents -
                    - It appears that new immigrants cannot avail Medicaid and will have to buy private insurance.
                    - I am also assuming that they will have to pay taxes to IRS as soon as they enter the US. Most likely as dependents to sponsors. Do the parents have to declare world wide assets? How does taxation work for immigrated parents? If this topic has already been discussed, I'd appreciate if someone can point me to it.

                    Thanks!

                      subhash60 -
You should receive and email "Notice regarding your Immigrant Visa Case becoming Documentarily Qualified" . Have you received it yet?

                        1. As stated in the post I do have a sibling. No originals or copies were taken for the sibling.
                        2. No. Need to pay $220 AFTER getting back the passport with the IV stamp. Need to pay INR 850 for each envelope to the BlueDart delivery person (if the delivery option was chosen). NO payment at VAC (during fingerprinting) or embassy.

I have the same question. Do they get anything after the tests and vaccinations are done?

It will be sent to Embassy.. They might give you one envelope with CD in it.. You need to keep it with you .. No need to take that report to Interview . At US border it might need but not always.

                            • Is it possible to get OTP text messages on an India number in the US? Do not need to call or text anybody. Just want to be able to receive SMS based OTPs. If so which provider and plan?

                              • Does anyone know the process of updating petitioner’s (my) address? My parents have their IR5 scheduled to happen at mumbai consulate on Sep 26.

can I just upload proof of address to CEAC portal and let my parents take the same for the interview?

Thanks in advance and happy weekend!
