I want to stress that, they are not adjudicating the petition or its credibility again. They are just making sure it is the same person and we know what we applied for and that we are still in the same line of work. Felt very informal. I was very apprehensive based on prior experiences (may be I took it more on a serious note) that they are gonna check for eligibility again, it didn't seem that way at all. No documents were asked at any time except the civil documents sent. passport status now says dispatched!!

Hi All,
My dependent IV interview went well on April 25th and I got the visa issued. Couple of highlights.- No matter what time is your interview you can enter at 7:15. Mine was at 8:30 but I was inside by 7:15 and out by 9:25.
- Please don't carry laptop bag even it is used to carry documents. I did this mistake and went back to hotel to drop the bag. Fortunately I stayed at Sofitel which is 3 mins walk from consulate. I reached consulate by 7:00 AM and fortunately talked to one of guards, he cautioned about the bag, so I immediately went back to hotel to drop the bag.
- Once entered ,after all security checks , one has to grab a paper based token and wait till your token number is displayed and approach to the corresponding window. Total 15 windows, 10 windows for initial verification done by Indian officers and 5 windows for 2nd round of interview conducted by American officers.
- Firstly all documents are checked by Indian origin officer then wit for second round of interview with American officer. Indian officer was thorough and asked about latest copy of W-2, income tax return and affidavit of support (I-864). Enquired about spouse name, US address and asked for 2 passport size photographs. By 7:45 my initial check was done. By end of the interview she gave me a paper slip mentioning how to deposit the green card fee. At this point I was sure that my visa was approved but has to wait for 2nd round of interview.
- Around 9:15, I was called for second round of interview. Officer was very polite. After the rituals e.g. right hand finger scan and the oath "I swear or affirm that all statements made during the interview and on the form are true". All I have to do was to raise the hand and say "I do". Asked about who is inviting you to US and where, how many kids, are they American citizens, previous US visit. Asked about expired passports and student visa issued in 2012. I answered in boasted tone that I went to MIT, which was not required at all. Checked all my visas and finally the golden word "you visa is approved". No documents, marriage album, ******** chat history or call details were asked.
- I opted for delivery at home, Blue Dart charges 650 cash on delivery. 25th I was done by 9:25 AM and on 28th by afternoon I had the passport and yellow envelop delivered inside a big grey envelop. Caution, don't open the yellow envelope

Looking at the pace at which the interviews are being scheduled in Mumbai, could we anticipate that my interview could happen in June or July 2022? Any thoughts!!!

I was looking at the Visa Statistics in the NVC's Visa Bulletin page, I found some very interesting stats specific to E1 Preference Category Visas issued in India.... thought will share it with the group.
In the year 2016 E1 -139 visas were issued, year 2017 E1- 121 visas were issued, year 2018 E1- 183 visas were issued, year 2019 E1- 148 visas were issued, year 2020 E1- 10 visas were issued (big dip), year 2021 E1- 47 visas were issued. The average number of E 1 visas issued prior to COVID was 148, there has been in dip in 2020 obviously due to COVID and seems to have picked up in 2021.
Interestingly in just four months starting from Jan until April 2022, 386 E1 visas have been issued in Mumbai. This has been the ever highest E1 Preference Category visas issued in such a short span of time. It either means that Mumbai must have caught up with the backlog of E1 visas or there must be more applicants in the past two years or both could be true.
I am hoping that once the student visa rush gets over in May/June..... we should start receiving the IL's!
