Going staight interview without going vfs

i have a big confusion, i have interview date on 5th oct. i don't have time to go vfs office even paying courier fee. can i go to mumbai consulate for interview totally bypassing vfs office? should i pay courier fee at consulate or vfs office later? will consulate let me enter in if i don't go to vfs office? please reply. its urgent.
