  • Beneficiary name in I824 appoval notice

I received approval noice for my I824 application (follow-to-join) which I raised for my family.

Strange thing I noticed is that the petitioner name & beneficiary name both has my name mentioned in it. I believe the beneficiary name should be my family member's name.

Does anyone had similar situation? Or if any one got approval for I824 for their family, has similar situation?

From what I read, that is normal, many reports say the same (same name for petitioner and beneficiary).

We are waiting for an approval notice for I-824 too, how long since approval to receive the letter? I will let you know if the petitioner and beneficiary are the same names (almost sure that they will).

Thanks Enub4 , I had a chat with Emma & with my attorney & they both confirmed that this is how it should be. The follow-to-join approval notice does not contain actual immigrant (as per my understanding the real beneficiary) name.

Its been a month of I-824 approval, but so far I have not received any welcome letter/email from NVC.

Thank you. Our I-824 was approved last week and we received the I-797 yesterday, the same name for both.

Nothing to do now but wait for the next step. I read that it can take 6-8 weeks or more.

Thats what is average I believe. For me, it's been 40 days after approval & no update on next step yet.

              libra14 any news?

We received an update that USCIS notified the US Consulate or Port of Entry. From what I read is that they informed NVC and they will send an email.

Thanks Enub4 Is that something you got separate from I797 from USCIS or from NVC?

After 797 of I824 approval, I haven't heard back anything from USCIS or NVC - its been more than 60 days now.

Thanks Enub4 Just to be double sure, you mean my (dot) uscis (dot) gov. Can you share what text you see there?

These are all what I see for my I824 application history.

                    1. [date] Case Was Approved
                    2. [date] We updated your date of birth for your Form I-824, Application for Action on an Approved Application or Petition.
                    3. [date] We received your Form I-824, Application for Action on an Approved Application or Petition.

Does that mean my case is not yet sent to NVC by USCIS?

                      libra14 the site is: https://egov.uscis.gov/casestatus/
                      I see this:

Name:	2022-05-10.jpg
Views:	1051
Size:	30.2 KB

On the other site (my uscis gov), under History I see:
[date] Case Was Approved And USCIS Notified The U.S. Consulate or Port of Entry

Please note that we had to create an inquiry because the approval notice was not correct, after a couple of chats with Emma we received a correct form a couple of weeks ago. The I-824 is in the Texas service center.

This is the first time I read about this status. The email received says:

There has been a recent processing action taken on your case.

                      Receipt Number: {number}

Application Type: I824, APPLICATION FOR ACTION ON AN APPROVED APPLICATION OR PETITION

Your Case Status: Post Decision Activity

On {date}, we notified the appropriate USCIS International Office, U.S. embassy, consulate, or port of entry about the approval of your case, Receipt Number {number}. Please visit our website at www.uscis.gov for information on Consular Processing. You will find information on what to do next, who to contact, and how to inform us of any changes in your situation or address.

For approved applications/petitions, post-decision activity may include USCIS sending notification of the approved application/petition to the National Visa Center or the Department of State. For denied applications/petitions, post-decision activity may include the processing of an appeal and/or motions to reopen or reconsider and revocations.
                      • Log-in to your myUSCIS account to view your case history and understand what you can expect to happen next on your case.
                      • Current processing times can be found on the USCIS website at under Check Processing Times.
                      Sincerely,

The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS)
I'm not sure if this is related to the inquiry. From what I read, normally they don't send this 'post-decision activity' and just send the case/information to the NVC.

I'll let you know if/when we receive something from NVC. The I-824 has first approved 2 months ago (beginning of March), then the case was updated again as approved by mid-April (after inquiry).

Yes, I worked with my attorney to get welcome letter from NVC, paid visa fees, submitted DS260 & sent all documents to NVC.

Now awaiting DQ letter/email and interview call from Embassy.
