Hello gurus:
I received two emails (one each for mother and father) from consulate with these next steps. I am not clear on two of these steps for my parents green card. The email says the following
Step 1: Read the Appointment Instructions for Immigrant Visa Applicants (Packet 4) available to download on our website at https://in.usembassy.gov/visas/immigrant-visas/
Step 2: Obtain your police clearance certificate from the regional passport office.
Step 3: Complete your medical examination with an approved panel physician. A list of panel physicians is available at https://in.usembassy.gov/visas/immigrant-visas/
Step 4: Complete Form DS-260 online at https://ceac.state.gov/ceac and print the confirmation page to bring to your interview. Please do this for any derivative spouse and children who will be applying for a visa. If applicable, you are required to scan and upload all supporting documents required by the CEAC for each applicant.
Step 5: Log in to http://www.ustraveldocs.com/in to schedule two appointments under All Immigrant or Diversity Visas: one appointment for biometric fingerprint and photo collection at the Visa Application Center (VAC) and one appointment at the Consulate. You may need to create a user account if you do not have one already.
I have planned for the step 2 and Step 3. I
I already did DS 260 two years back (parents couldn't attend visa interview due to COVID then). Should redo step 4. Actually don't see any option
Finally, step 5 is most confusing. I am able to make one appointment at VAC, but there is no option to make second appointment for consulate.
Do they get consulate appointment once they finish VAC? I called and emailed USTraveldocs but they give me a canned answer (with above steps) every time!
Can someone clarify on Step 5 please i,e. we get appointment in Mumbai consulate once VAC is done. Thanks
