  • Immigrant Visa Interview Appointment received for only one parent (Mumbai)

Hi, I applied IR5 immigrant visa for both my parents. I have received an appointment letter from NVC for March 16 with Mumbai consulate. No appointment letter for my dad. Due to their age, we want them both to immigrate to the US at the same time.

Any one faced this? How can we request that both of them scheduled for interview on same date? Email to support@ustraveldocs was responded with no useful information. PLEASE HELP

PS: I applied for both my dad and mom same day. However my dad's application was documentarily qualified 2 months later than my mother's.

If the DQ dates differ but the priority date is same for both your parents, then most probably your dad's IL will come soon with same interview date as that of your mom. However, I suggest you shoot an email to the NVC with a copy to the mumbai consulate requesting same day interview for mom and dad.

Thank you GeoMac. What is the email address of the NVC you are referring to? I did email support@ustraveldocs and their response was not helpful. Would like to know if there is a different email address that I can reach out to. Thank you

You can email them using the NVC portal itself. The portal will ask for NVC case #, Invoice number etc. Their responses are usually helpful however there may be a long queue and you will have to wait for a response.

Thanks a lot, I have used the portal.

An unrelated question, is it advisable to renew indian passport while waiting for interview? Or is it better to attend the consulate interview with an expired passport?

h1 need, I did not recieve. However i was able to register using same process I did for my mom, the website then asked me to schedule interview, which I did. My current problem is that the dates are different for each of my parents.
