My mom just got DQ and i am told the next step is to wait for interview letter from NVC that will provide me with the date of interview at Mumbai Consulate. However, I have seen posts here where people mention (for Immigrant Visa) interviews at VAC as well as US Consultate. I have also seen people making reference to online interview appointment with VAC once they get a date from NVC. This is quite confusing. Is it not as simple as -NVC sends the interview date and there on we will do the medical exam and subsequently attend interview on the said date at consulate? Do i need to take interview appointment with VAC or consulate? What is the role of VSA? What is the procesS?

i posted that question after searching thoroughly and I looked again, but i am unable to find details on the process/steps after getting IL. I find it contradicting that NVC will get you interview date and yet you need to find appointment with VAC??
their available date for the interview then will email you once they confirmed the date, your agent (if applicable) and the petitioner. Once you got your date of interview, You can schedule
your medical prior to interview date since you need the medical result on the day of the interview. This is the process by the NVC.
On the other hand, some applicant wanted to make it sooner and not wait for the interview date made by the NVC only if your priority date is available/current, you can contact NVC
to expedite your DQ file to transfer to your consulate once your NVC is in transit then ready (you can see your file status at ceac log in file) you can book an interview just like booking a tourist visa
online. This is the second option for you if you don't want to wait for the NVC handed over your date of interview. This is on Expedited version.
10/10/19- Case is ready to be scheduled for interview...
10/29/19 - I-485 Interview notice received.
12/05/19 - Interview day @ 10:45 am
03/13/2023 - Interview for N400
03/13/2023 - Pass interview same day sworn in as US citizen.

since this is for parent, https://www.uscis.gov/green-card/gre...priority-dates states that Immigrant visas for immediate relatives of U.S. citizens are unlimited, so they are always available.
Question: Is there any qualification criteria for Expedited immigrant visa? My attorney did not mention such option was available. I definitely want to pursue this since my mom is 80+ and cannot live on her own in India.Last edited by user2022; 04-10-2023, 11:04 PM.

user2022, You can expedite your parents case by email and calling NVC.
To email : [email protected]
Thru Phone: 1-603-334-0700
You can reason about your parents situations and their ages and health.
Make sure when you email put all the details of the case no, name and date of birth of your parents and the petitioner.
Ask them them to arrange and interview date and forward their documents to the US consulate of your parents location.
Check your parents status on documents still at NVC or in-transit or ready at the CEAC website.
If its in transit it means the documents of your parents is now a heading to the consulate.
If is ready and the location is in Consulate, you can immediately set and appointment thru USTRAVELDOCS.com(There is a non immigrant and immigrant application for setting up interview.
