  • VISA Interview/Death of sponsor

    Hello,

I am in the US (with Greencard) and have been for many years. My father was a citizen. He sponsored his brother who immigrated to the US several years ago. After a decade, my uncle returned to India. His children (daughter + husband + son AND son + wife + son) applied for immigration >10 years ago. COVID led to significant delays. Finally, the paperwork was completed. Then, my father died last July (2022). I then submitted my own personal financial information to become a co-sponsor. In January of 2023, we received the confirmation that everything was in order - we just needed to wait for the interview. Unfortunately, my uncle became sick a few months ago and he passed away.

Today, we got the notice for the interviews. August 17 and August 21.

What can we do at this point? Will it go through? Even if my father or uncle were alive, I was still going to be the primary financial caretaker, as my father and uncle were both retired and on fixed income.

I was considering sending notarized letter saying this and that we will be responsible for our family that immigrates over. Is there anything else we can do at this time?

    Thank you in advance.
