Hello,
I would really really appreciate some help from anyone familiar with parents 221g. My parents had their IR5 visa scheduled for Dec 29th in Mumbai. During the medical at Rele Clinic my father was recommended for sputum testing, and his interview was automatically cancelled. I will need to reschedule it after his test results come out in ~8 weeks. My mother went to the interview as planned. However she has been given a 221g and the officer asked for additional proof to establish that she is my mother. After the I-130 stage, we had uploaded a number of documents for proving this including my marriage invite, my old Indian passport and my OCI (both of which show her name as my mother).
In the interview, my mother also carried photographs but the officer started asking for my ration card and adhar card. I have been in the US for more than 30 years and do not have these documents.
1. Has anyone faced this situation?
2. The 221g says that additional documents need to be submitted WITHOUT an appointment at any of the 11 document drop-off locations. My question is: can someone other than me or my parents drop off these documents? My parents are elderly and do not live in any of the 11 locations. I am scheduled to return to the US tomorrow.
3. What is involved in the document drop-off? I see a cover letter on the ustraveldocs website and it seems 2 copies of that form need to be filled and submitted?
4. The 221g states the list of documents as: Copy of family ration cards, copy of voter's ID cards, copy of Adhar cards, copy of school leaving certificate. I do not ave the first 3 documents since I have been in the US for more than 30 years. My school leaving certificate does not have my mother's name. I am thinking I will submit documents that we had uploaded after I-130 and that they had approved as proof of my relationship with my mother (e.g. old Indian passport, OCI etc.).
Any thought or suggestions will be very much appreciated.
Thanks!
