  • Citizenship for Widowed Mother-in-law

    Hello Sir,

I am applying for my mother-in-law for Citizenship. She is widowed from last 7 years. When I was filling form N-400 application for Naturalization, I saw in "Part 8 Information about your marital history". This part is asking about all information on name, address, whether citizen or not, social security number, spouse' country of citizenship etc. I was confused with all this entering all information as she is widowed.

Another question I have is that she just returned from INDIA. As far as I know she has to be in US physically for last months before I apply for her citizenship. Is this true? Is there any rule I need to follow before I apply. She is in US from last 5 years so she is eligible for applying citizenship but she was in INDIA from last 5 months and just returned back.

I am looking for your guidance n specific Part 8 of N-400 application for Naturalization. I will appreciate any advice or comments on this.

    Thank

    1. She has to mention all of his past marriages.
    2. She can apply.
