Parents Interview in New Delhi

I just received the letter from NVC for my parents interview at the New Delhi Consulate on 11 May for their immigrant visa. Since the time I filed my Affidavit of Support for them, I got laid off and am on Unemployment. My parents are also not aware of this at this time. Will the consular office have info on this already? If the officer questions about my job should my parents just answer what they know as per the AOS or will it be okay to let them know about the current situation and will it affect the decision in any way?

Any input or similar experience will be appreciated.
