  • I 864 Affidavit of Support Question, Please Help!

I'm an American living in the UK, my husband is British and we've been married 3 1/2 years. I've recently sent off my I-130 Petition for an Alien Relative and from what I understand, the next step is to wait for approval and his interview date.

What I don't understand is how this I 864 Affidavit of Support thing works. From what I've read, as the Petitioner, I have to be his main sponsor. This was fine except I JUST read that because I do not live in the US, I can't be his sponsor. So what am I supposed to do? I was going to have a joint sponsor anyways .... but what I don't understand is this:

When we get his interview date, we are supposed to send the I 864. But I can't sent it because I live in the UK. So who sends it?

Someone please help, I've been searching the internet and am so confused!!

    Thanks,
    Sara

Regarding affidavit of support, read https://https://www.immihelp.comhttp...it-of-support/ to understand everything about it.

Regarding the domicile requirements, read https://www.immihelp.com/country-of-...it-of-support/

If you both of you live in the UK now, are you planning to move to the U.S. once your spouse gets the green card? If so, it can work.

If not, why does he need the green card?

going thru this now. YOU may need to leave UK and finish paperwork in the US. you will either need work or a sponsor, see Poverty guidelines and sponsor requirements if you or someone plans to sponsor your spouse. I had to leave husband and finish paperwork, find work. he has interview but not until AFTER I was here and found something to report to NVC. follow instructions strictly. most embassies may be processing ONCE US spouse in IN the US. it can be somewhat challenging to prove DOMICILE,

I have a question also. I am filing the aos and using my parents as joint sponsors too. It says I need to prove we share residency but because I recently moved in with them,I am not on a lease and have no bills with their address, what other things should I be able to use?
