  • I-751 documents help

    Hi,

My Green Card will expire in March 2015. For now, we have Joint lease papers, Joint bank account and joint mobile account. What are the other documents that I can attach? I will have to find photos as we did not take many together (as we take photos for each other) and we don't have kids. We do not have any insurance at all. Is it mandatory to submit tax papers, neither me nor my wife had job last year. I have a job this year and I can submit the tax papers for 2014 but that will be later next year. Please suggest if I can submit my documents after February once I file for taxes or can I apply for my green card renewal now without any tax papers? Thanks.

    IFT Guy,

Yes, you can apply for "Removal of Conditions" without tax return copies, and without other recommended evidence, But you can count on a "Request for Evidence," anytime from 2 weeks to 10 months after you submit.

The rule of thumb is to provide as much of the recommended "cohabitation" and "commingling of financial affairs" evidence that you have with your initial submittal. Then while waiting for I-751 processing, start gathering additional evidence for any additional evidence requests, and/or an in-person interview.
