  • I-824 or Adjustment of Status

I need help in making a decision following an email received from the USCIS which aligned two alternatives to go about my green card process:

I made an inquiry to the USCIS of the petition filed my American Citizen mother on my behalf. It was approved in 2004. Since then I have been waiting for a follow-up. The USCIS returned to me with this:
The status of this service request is:

Recently, you contacted USCIS to inquire into the status of your Petition for Alien Relative (Form I-130) because you believe it to be outside normal processing times.

A review of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) records indicate your petition was approved on November 19, 2004, and the beneficiary wished to adjust status in the United States. Because the beneficiary wished to adjust status in the United States, the petition was housed in the beneficiary’s A-file at the National Records Center. If the beneficiary wishes to pursue consular processing then you should file Form I-824, Application for Action on an Approved Application or Petition. Forms are available on our website

Please advise on which process should I go with: file for form I-824 or go for adjustment of status? Which one is faster and feasible for me
