Ead & biometrics - is the biometric test abosultely essential for getting an ead card

Hi all

I am on L2 (dependent visa ) and have applied for the EAD card.

The status as of now :-

I got an email on march 31st 2016 , stating that my case has been accepted and further action will be taken on this. About 7 days later I got the physical receipt also.


If someone could help me with the following :-

1. Is the biometrics absolutely essential for getting an EAD ?
2. If yes , does the info on biometrics scheduling come on email or do they post a physical notice ?
3. Is it possible to reschedule the EAD ( assuming that I get the notice to go for a biometrics test again )
4. What is the approximate time gap between getting the receipt notice and the biometrics ?

I understand that no one will be bale to give me a exact answer , but any help will be greatly appreciated
